Was I the only one to notice how the VP, speaking to members of the NRA yesterday, never mentioned the true intention of the 2A?

He spoke strongly of his love for "hunting" and our right to do so. Than ****ed me off when saying that the president "respects you" and is a strong supporter of 2A rights?

Here again was another historic opportunity to educate, not weaken the true intention of the 2A. During a time of crisis regarding issues of domestic securirty, he chooses not to empower us, but the enemy. Selling us on the idea that our guns are for hunting? This is the BUSH TEAM 2004 and this is the NRA.

He is a pin head making a political remark. He cares for nothing but his own gain. The only reason he courts the NRA is that he wants the votes, he probably hasn't even ever studied Civics since he was in prep school. I think that all politicians should have to take a basic Civics class and pass a test on how goverment is suppose to work prior to being sworn in.

Would you rather it be "President Kerry"?

Vice President Dick Cheney
Addresses the National Rifle Association
at the Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA
April 17, 2004

On President Bush...

"Under President Bush, the executive branch...understands that the Second Amendment affirms more than a symbolic principle. It states, after all, that 'the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.' This means, as the Attorney General has stated unequivocally, that law abiding citizens of the United States have the individual right to own a firearm."

- Vice President Dick Cheney

On John Kerry...

"Your organization (the National Rifle Association) has evaluated Senator Kerry's record on gun rights and given him a grade of 'F.' Senator Kerry has had a few things to say about [the NRA]...He has promised to, quote, 'stand up against' the NRA. Well, the Senator is free to pursue endorsements from whomever he wishes."

- Vice President Dick Cheney

"John Kerry's approach to the Second Amendment has been to regulate, regulate and then regulate some more."

- Vice President Dick Cheney

In the news...

"There is no greater threat to gun ownership than John Kerry as president,' NRA First Vice President Sandra Froman said. 'He would appoint Supreme Court justices who say an individual does not have the right to keep and bear arms."

- The Chicago Tribune, April 18, 2004

It's the House of Representatives that's going to stop renewal of the ASSault weapons ban. The senate will approve of renewal and our current president has said he's in favor of the renewal.

On this issue, GW is the same as Kerry.

The NRA supports laws to eliminate the "gun show loophole". The NRA fought hard for instant background checks, instead of eliminating background checks. The NRA fought hard to include "domestic violence" cases and "restraining order" cases as prohibitions to own firearms. The NRA is our friend? NO! The gun-grabbers have seized on opportunities backed by the NRA to put more and more gun owners in prison and further their gun-ban mission!

Kerry is worse than Bush overall on the gun issue.

A turd is a turd. As long as we support the sham of 2 party elections that is what we will get. Vote local. Vote for the state candidates who support your viewpoint. Vote for the US Reps and Senators that support your views. Only this will slow down the erosion of rights. The are the neck that turns the head of state. :usa:
