Just wondering what a good shoulder rig would be. Would prefer shoulder holster with dual mag pouch. Galco makes some good looking rigs, but I'm a poor white boy. :D Thanks.

:( :( Sorry can't help you on this one. The only shoulder rigs I have are Alessi and Galco. Both are very good quality and I am quite pleased but they are pricey.

Those are both good rigs. I'm ready to get a 1911, then I will start putting down the big bucks for some top-end rigs. But for right now, I have too many hobbies to finance. Thanks punchie.

they are one and all uncomfortable, hot in warm weather, and slow to draw from. You have to tie off the far side, or they cut your armpit. For any sort of real speed of draw, they all need an added chest strap, which you can't conceal, unless you cut slits in the sides of all your shirts. Bad deal all around, save your money.

A fulll size and wt 1911 is also too big and heavy to ccw much. Get an alloy framed compact version for ccw, practice with another, similar one, in 9mm,for the cheap ammo, and to save wear and fouling on the ccw gun. There are also .22 lr conversion units available for the 1911. The old Colt, steel slide, adjustble sighted version is best, but many of them had problems with the lack of precision machining of their floating chambers. Always insist on testifiring at least 100 rds of plated, non-hollowpoint ammo thru one, before buying it. They run $400, out of production for 20+ years now, and spare mags are about $50. If you shoot 5000+ rds a year, however, they pay for themselves in short order. So will the 9mm slide-group, mags and ejector. 9mm milsurp is 10c a shot, .45 is a lot closer to 20c a shot.

I was thinking the same thing Mikr. From the way he has replied to every post in here and none of them are anything relevant or positive, I think we have a winner. What does any of that have to do with shoulder rigs? If this is Gunkid, I'm going to save myself a lot of future posts and say this: "If you aren't going to post anything that is relevant to the subject, or what you post is just trashing what someone has a question about...shut up." No one wants to hear it. We have a good thing going here, don't screw it up with your empty, meaningless ramblings. If you aren't Gunkid, or his counterpart, I sincerely apologize. I appreciate anyone that submits and real information. Thanks.

Hey, I am a little late to this party!
Adaman04, Do you perhaps have a leather shop close by? I made my own shoulder holster from cowhide and stamped it myself. Very little expense... It is possible you don't posess the knowledge to do so which brings me to my point that you should be able to get a custom shoulder rig made cheaper than a name brand. I know here in my territory a plain Jane custom shoulder Holster can be made by any competant leathersmith for $100 or less. That is to say single stiching and no stamping. On top of that most leather shops are a little more picky of what part of the hide they use also. Just a thought, maybe it'll help you get a better Holster at a smaller price.
As far as a shoulder holster being slower... what a crock! Quickness is where experience and practice come together... My holster houses a 10 1/2 Inch Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 with a Bushnell 2X32 scope. I can draw it very quickly and down Bambi before he flees!

I am serious considering the GI shoulder holster mentioned by DiN_BLiX. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of the rig? I think they are called an M-7. Thanks for your help. :usa:

Or maybe check out Fobus holsters. Modular design with a roto holster. Belt slide, paddle or sholder rig with add on accesories. I like to be able to carry many diffrent ways according to clothes and temps.
