Any recomendations for a good CCW ammo for a Colt Gov't model .380 that will feed well. With summer coming on I may have need for a smaller gun that my G26 at times.

Try some Triton Quik-Shoks. They feed fine in my Colt Mustang Plus.

is triton even still in business? A while back, I got no answers to phone calls and emails to them. The Mustang is a far better choice than the GM. .5" off of either end really helps pocket draw speed. Get a good Kydex pocket holster for it, with velcro patches to keep the rig in place. The winchester 85 gr Silvertip, reloaded to nearly 1300 fps in the Mustang, is a far better performer than the Quik Shok. In fact, I'd prefer such a 380 to .45 ball ammo, assuming the same hits. It dumps all of its 300 ft lbs in the man, instead of wasting 1/3rd of it on overpenetration. Having a hand on the pocket gun, in the pocket, is worth .5 second in draw and hit speed, and you can put that .5 second to good use, if you are skilled and in good enough control of your nerves. It can mean 3 more hits to the chest, or 1-2 good tries at the brain shot (at typical, 6 ft civilian defensive shooting yardage.

They probably didn't reply to your emails because they were something similar to what you post on here. We're glad you think the Mustang is better than the Gov't Model, because your opinion of that is helping Malada find a good CCW ammo in ways you will never know. Hyda-shoks aren't bad, but I thought I heard you say you didn't like them a time or two. Anyway, I better get off here, so I can hear Benji talk about why fuel injection is better than a carburetor. Good luck with the CCW ammo, hope you find something.

A trauma doctor that I shot with a couple of days had this to say about 380: DON'T. You can carry a 9 or 40 that is smaller and lighter than most of the 380's (escluding KelTec) anyway.

Got to add MHO:

I have carried a Kel-tec 380 for about 9 months as my hide out gun in sandland. However I recently obtained a SS Govt. 380, had Novaks do an action job, trigger, job, Novaks night sights, and I love it. Can use any 380 load as it is a locked action (so is the Kel-tec), and bullet placement is much more precise than with the KT. It is bigger and heavier, but in a tactical vest or under one, not noticable. As a carry gun it can stand alone, which I don't think the KT can. Add a couple of mags, and I would not feel undergunned in most social situations, as distinct from tactical situations, when it is definitely a back up only.
