I like 45's, but had a bad experience with a shell bursting, and am very leery of going thru that again. Is there anyone who makes a fully supported 45ACP barrel on a stock gun, not an aftermarket job? By fully supported, I mean a barrel that swallows the entire shell right up to the extractor groove, all the way around. Even better would be a 4" version of said gun. Does anyone make it?

Find someone who sells a fully ramped barrel. I think Paraordnance does. I had a similar experience. I had my barrel replaced with a ramped Kart barrel. Fully supported chamber and 1 piece feed ramp. Works great.

Para makes those bada$$ double action .45s. I've always wanted one of them. Pretty sweet.

some of Spld's (all of them?) use fully supported barrels. Go to HomeGunsmithing.com, (Roderus Custom Gunworks) and ask around. You can get such a barrel for $50, and any decent smith can install it in any version of the 1911, for $50. It's a simple morticing job, on the frame. However, once you cut that frame to fit a fully supported barrel, the only "standard" barrels that will still work with it are the .22 conversion unit barrels.
