It's my first time on here so I thought I would try put a pic. of my AR on here if I can figure this thing out.
Hello NE_Hunter. Welcome to the forum. Nice weapon you have there. I moved this to the gallery, it seems to fit there better.
:sniper:
Very nice NE_Hunter...............Hummm how was your shot placement on the target to the left???

That target to the right has one ragged hole in his left eye form my BBL .260 Rem. 700 with a Choate stock. It was a 3 shot group at 100yd., using 85. gr. HP Varminter hand loads. :sniper: I clould post a close up of the target and/or rifle if you would like. I love that rifle just as much as my AR. I could also post the last target I shot wiht my AR if anyone would like. It's new and I'm still getting use to it. Not sure I like the trigger yet. But I have to wait tell I get home as I'm at work now and don't have them with me. Just let me know were to post them.
Fine rifle dude, very fine. Was the Hogue grip hard to get on at all?

It's a Bushmaster Varminter, it came with that grip on it. But I don't think they are hard to get on.
Hi NE_Hunter,
I'd be interested in seeing how your Varminter groups. I got one recently, and it shoots even better than I expected. What scope is that? Any problems with access to the charging handle? I'm thinking about an extended handle cuz mine is a bit difficult to grab with the scope so close.
Check out this group. :D

Yote,
It's not to hard getting to the charging handle. I have extra high scope rings on it. I shoot right handed using my left eye because I'm blind in my right eye and can't shoot left handed. So my scopes are all set a little higher than most people. The scope I have on it is a BSA 6-24X40mm Mil-Dot Illumined Reticle. It's not a real expensive scope but I've had one on my .260 for a couple of years and have liked it. I really like the 1/8" adjustments. This target is the last one I shot with my Bushmaster. I was using Winchester white box 45gr at 100yds. It also likes Black Hills 68gr MHP's.

Ahh, a Bushmaster Varmiter. Very nice weapon. One of these days I'll have to get my hands on a varmiter upper.

Slick setup and great group. Is that barrel chrome lined?

Nope, not chrome lined. Thanks about the group. Not bad for a simi-auto. I was srprised. I can do that with my bolt guns, but I didn't expect here. I'm just starting to relad for it. If the wind will ever stop blowing when I'm off work and if I can get any of my reloads to group, I'll post some more pic's of them here.

Updated picture. I’ve added a few accessories. Thought I would share.
Looks good - maybe a little top heavy?
groups from the bench are one thing, hits under field conditions a very different thing. Most places, if you go prone, you can't see your target, or your bullets have to clip vegetation on the way. What matters is hits on target, under field conditions, from the sit, using either the backpack or x'd arrowshafts as a rest. under such conditions, nobody gets better than 1 MOA type accuracy.
That looks like many a coyotes nightmare!!! :ar15:

Thanks Coyote, but the light is light weight and I only use is when I'm night hunting yotes. But the battery is another storry. Have you ever done that, it's a blast!
Thaks Scruffy, it is.

I don't know where you live, but here in Nebraska you can shot over vegetation with high harris bipods, I have a pair and have used them on may coyote hunts.
and, [QUOTE] "using either the backpack or x'd arrowshafts as a rest. under such conditions, nobody gets better than 1 MOA type accuracy."
I would have to strongly disagree with that. If you ever want to take a road trip to Nebraska, I would prove it. But I’m sure there is someone around were you live that can show you how it’s done.

I like the Varminter rig a lot!!!!!!! Is the large black object on top of the scope a spotlight of some kind. I also see a laser on the side - what's its range?
but the light is light weight and I only use is when I'm night hunting yotes
Sadly - Here in Idaho they have stopped night hunting all together. Too many people spot lighting cows, deer, dogs, cats, ect. Some people can be so stupid - and it ruins it all for everyone. Fish and Game really frowns on spotlight - and if your caught - crap - they take your weapons - and you get a reallllllllly big fine and if your unlucky - a few days and nights in the Bar Hotel. I have taken my share of coyotes - the last time I went hunting - I called 3 big yotes in - had the biggest one in my sights - stood up - fired a round off in the direction of the yote - missing on purpose - and have never been hunted again. Guess I just got tired of killing critters. I will leave that to you folks. Now I take pictures. ;) Still get them in my sights - but they get to keep running.
 Where do you mount that battery? We used to use aircraft landing light - and ran them off two 6 volt batteries. Carried the whole thing in a make shift mail box carrier. Had the batteries - caller - and light in it. Worked pretty dang well.

Thanks AR15_Fanatic. Yeah it’s a spot light, for night hunting coyotes. It has a red lens on the front. The red light doesn’t seam to scare them as bad as the white light does. And the laser is a Beamshot 1001 Ultra. It woks well. It has a range of 800yds and the dot is just less than 1.5” @ 100yds.
Coyote, you’re set up sounds like a good idea. The battery for this light is farley small and has a loop to be worn on a belt, but I usually just set it on the ground. For no bigger than it is, it’s kind of heavy. It works real well out to about 150 yards. But at night you can call them in close, they don’t seem to be as nervous at night. Which is a good deal, because you’re right…have to be real careful…just can’t go blasting at eye shine.

Good looking rig. You can spotlight a few unprotected animals here in Oregon without a permit. To spotlight coyotes, you must be on private land and the landowner must have a permit to do so stating the coyotes, jack rabbits, etc. are damaging crops/wildlife.

I put an anti-cant device on to help with the shots at prairie dogs over 300 yards. Once I got every thing level, it sure makes a big deference.

I don't have to move my head to see the level with it here. Just my eye. It works great.
