I recently purchased a Marlin 982S .22 magnum rifle and the trigger is pretty stiff. The rifle is so light that it is very very hard not to jerk the trigger at a standing position. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with adjusting the trigger on a rifle of this kind. If there is something I can install please let me know.

You can buy an adjustable trigger from Mid South or some of the other mail order companys for about 80.00. I believe it's adjustment range is 2 ounces to 2 pounds. Been thinking of getting one for my Marlin.

Wow, 2 ounces, I would really like to have something like that. It's unfortunate that it is almost half the price of the gun but an improvement like that would make that rifle a nice shooter. OBTW, how do you like your Marlin, I have had great success with mine. For some reason no matter what kind of ammo I use the point of impact at 80 yards is the same. Not really sure why. Thanks for your help.

I told someone the other day that I woundn't trade my Marlin .22 mag. for 2 .17's.Even with the cheap scope on it, it shoots damn good. :D I've taken crows, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, groundhogs, beavers and a bobcat with it. One of these days I might buy a .17 and when I do it will be a Marlin. But for now I don't see any reason to own one. For ammo in the .22 mag I only use Winchester hollowpoints. I have tried every round made, most of it accurate but the Winchester has the terminal performance.
