Welcome to the forum dlott33. That is one beauty you have there. So the Whistle Pig is compensated, and comes with that blue marble finish? If it shoots as good as it looks, you will only see 1 hole. ;)

You did it again! A very nice creation! ;)

BTW we are limited to 1 thread per member, so I merged your 2 beauties into one awsome thread. ;)

Great looking pieces!

i have a couple questions. first, how does the WP barrel work for you? I've looked at them a few times and i like the way they look. Plus they are about half the cost of a Volquartsen. Second, what kind of paint did you use on the barrel and receiver?

thanks for the peeks at the beautiful guns!

Worth repeating ( pun? ) , and the Clerke barrel ?

I still haven't had a chance to shoot the WP yet. I've taken the clerke out and shot it a few times but didn't try to shoot groups...Just a little plinking. It appears to be very accurate though. I put up some roofing nails to shoot and hit 2 out of 3 from 25yds...
As far as paint.... I used Dupli-Color metalcast Spray paint purchased from Walmart...It's designed to simulate anodizing...It's needs to be sprayed over shiny metal or they make a silver base coat to shoot it over... Since I had a bead blasted receiver and stainless barrel I didn't use the base coat...Just make sure all parts are completely degreased......I haven't had it on long enough to give an accurate durability check but it appears to be pretty durable...I think as long as you aren't to rough and don't expose it to harsh chemicals it'll be fine

Hey Dee!

Did you gt a chance to shoot the whistle pig barrel yet? With those two beauties laying around, I don't think I could stand not shooting them.

Give us a report on the WP barrel when you get some time.

Thanks!

Really like both of the projects! I had been toying with the idea of a painted receiver, and had in fact even bought the very same color of the Metalcast paint this week. You have forced me to go for it! Hope mine will look as good. Did you use any particular method after spraying, i.e. drying? I am considering an oven bake after spraying, what do you think??

I dig the blue and gray laminated stock! If your 10/22 ever wants to leave home, he's always welcome in my gun safe!

Take care

Very nice - but wish you would stop posting those colored stocks. Now my wife wants me to do her factory 10/22 stock in blue or purple. :( She has all the bells and whistles (the gun that is) except for a factory barrel and stock. (She needs a very light weapon). ;)
