Here we go, got the twins together again, fraternal that is. The 10/22 has been with us almost as long as Baby. The mods, Cajungeo's trigger 3.5lbs., action job by owner, BC folder has free floated barrel and bedded, Kidd action pins, recoil buffer by owner, extended mag release by owner, this rifle is a certified RioGrande Turkey killer and turtle duster. You can still see some Turd Creek mud on the postol grip from the last turtle shoot, 15yrs ago. When I get to refinishing with Krylon Wrinkle paint it'll sure be hard to wash that mud off, sentimental value. Also, I still need to build the cheek peice like Baby has........ :D

I most certainly am cajungeo. I finaly got the trigger pull on the mini down to 3.5 lb. too, now when the monsoons are over I might get to the range. Can't wait to see how the 10/22 shoots. What is a good ammo now in .22 ? It's been so long since I did much shooting I don't know what's good and what's not. I've got two 550 rnd. bricks of Remington 36gr. High Velocity Hollow Point Golden Bullit ammo I picked up some where on sale. I haven't shot this target barrel enough to even break it in. Used to use CCI MiniMags when I was hunting, they'd turn a turk for a flip and a half if ya shot 'em in the neck. Are these Golden Bullit HP's jacketed or coated in something? I remember looking on their website for 'em once and never found anything. Anyway, boy things sure have changed. I remember the first time I showed up to squirrel hunt with a straight 4x scope on the 10/22, everbody looked at me funny and says "a scoped twentytwo, that's cheating", oh well, now you don't see very many not scoped. Thanks for all the tips and tricks man, I couldn't have done it without all the help on this forum.

Those are a couple of nice looking rifles. Did you have any problems with the forearm of the 10/22 being all flimsy after you modified it for the .920 barrel? I did the same mod to my BC folder and the forearm seemed kinda limp afterwards. Or is that the way its supposed to be? Do all synthetic target stocks have a lot of flex in them?

It feels plenty solid to me. I did bed the barrel, after cutting the little forend piece off and shortening it by 1 in. I used 3 small 1/2 in long roll pins and some epoxy to pin it back on. Then about 3/4 in. in front of the v-block and out to the balance point of the barrel I filled it with accraglass to bed the barrel. That realy beefed up the forearm. It does have enough flexability to be able to move it if you put some fairly heavy preasure on it, but I guess thats just natural for a synthetic. How old is your stock? I bought this one in '86 or '87 if I remember right.... it was a pretty ridgid piece of plastic to start with. When the folding arm and hardware off it is light as a feather, and with the bedding it might be an ounce heavier.

Well as for finished, probably never, but as close as I can get for now....

The extended bolt handle was so easy I don't know why it didn't happen sooner. I have problems w/hands, ect. from neck injury and the little factory bolt handle has messed with me forever. The other day I ran across the old one I had replaced and started thinking about changing it some how. After a trip to the hardware store for a 1" stainless 8x32 allen head bolt $.07, and a 1" long nylon spacer for a #8 bolt $.14, I got the hacksaw and cut the offending part off. Got the file and smoothed and squared the remaining part of the handle, then drilled and tapped for 8x32. After countersinking the hole in the spacer to let the bolt head be flush I screwed the pieces together, and it worked like a charm... have about 300 rnds. on it now and no busted fingers yet!!!

Wow rutro. An extended pearl bolt handle, very nice, but are you sure you can afford it?

It's time to update this with the new redux for this ol' 10/22. The same barreled action is back in the old factory stock ........ with some minor wood work done. Now that it's bedded to two different stocks I can go from tactical to target in the time it takes to unscrew the take down screw and put it back in.........

Now the other side......... and it likes the Dyna-Points just as well no matter which furniture it's mounted in

Really nice, Rutro! :D Like the grip and the fore end solution to make the free floating visisble. What kind of finish are you going to use for the wood?

I've got a Golden Pecan stain that I'm partial to, it's not real dark like the oridgenal color, it's got almost a red tint to it. Then we'll try out my poor mans spray rig and shoot some oil based polyurathane in a satin finish.......... I'm haveing a hard time makeing myself go slow, I want it finished and I want it now. So I'm forcing me to be

Rutro, they say patience is a virtue... ;) I had a terrible time, the English stuff for my stock I got came in three separate bottles and it took five days before the whole process was done.

Looks good rutro. From the way its perched across the ammo box, you got a good balance on it to. ;)

All right, thanks guys. Got a lot done today. Finished sanding and got it stained. Here are a couple of more pics.....

A little closer to the grain which came out nice when the stain soaked in. I added just a splash of mineral spirits to it so it would soak in a little quicker....

With a little luck tomorrow it will be dry and I can put a few coats of urathane on and be done. Here's the poor mans spray rig. The C-H compressor is oilless and has a 2gal tank. It cuts off at 100psi and back on at 75psi. The spray gun is Central Phnumatic from Harbor Freight, a touch up gun they call it. $19.95 on sale......... $60.00 for the compressor and I allready had the extra 5gal tank. So that gives 7gal total air and the gun runs on 30psi regulated and uses 2 1/2 gpm at that preasure. Worked good when I filled the gun with water and got dialed in, compressor kept up great.

Three coats of Satin Polyurathane- oil based. Need to give it a good hand rub with some wax .... later when the urathane has seasoned.
