I recently purchased a Saiga in 7.62x39 and was thinking that a polished bolt / charging handle would snaz it up a little. Any suggestions on how to go about polishing this?
Thanks in advance!

I did mine, and think it looks spiffy. If your bolt is painted like mine was, you're gonna need a real heavy duty paint stripper the get that junk off. I wouldn't go overboard with the polishing unless you want to be able to signal aircraft with your bolt. (my gun isn't really as shiny as it looks in the pic)

pig pen, do you have to take special care for that not to rust or is it fine on its own?
I just wipe it down with Break Free CLP. Seems to work just fine. No rust or tarnish on it in over a year so far. The metal they use in the AK bolts seem to hold a shine pretty well.
