Hi All,
Here's my lil 10/22...
Choate stock, 12.5" barrel, Soundbiter silencer, 1.5-5x20 Simmons Whitetail Classic scope , laser sight, VQ hammer, trigger + extractor, PC extended bolt handle + weaver mount, Millet rings, CST Auto Bolt Stop, chamferred bolt, Weaponkraft bolt buffer.
P.S I should state that I live in the U.K. , where minimum barrel length is 12" and silencers are legal to use with permission from police.
Cheers,
John
Ghaaa,,,, cant see that picture <_<

hey crieffy, welcome to the forums....very nice rifle..i finally get a decent idea that hasn't been done on this forum and start looking for a tactical stock...two weeks later, you post a pic of one better than i would have ever made mine lol...looks great, where do you live though? a couple things that are illegal on there lol...is that just a factory mag sitting below the rifle? or is it another mod? the pic kinda whites out over it and its hard to tell..
Hi Cheetah,
Thanks for the welcome :)
I live in the Shetland Islands (north of UK mainland). Minimum barrel length here is 12", had to apply for permission on my gun license for the silencer though. Hi-cap mags are ok too. Apart from that, just about every other firearm is banned.
It is a factory mag - I have them clipped back to back.
I'll try and post a better pic later....

Welcome crieffy. Am glad you said where you are from. Its a nice looken 10/22. Here in the states you can own a NFA weapon with special permit only. You can ignore the PM I sent you.
I am looking hard at the bolt stop. I sure want one, but then I want a lot of things.
ahh, now i see it, guess i should have looked a little closer..its a very nice looking rifle...how's it shoot?

Hi Crieffy- welcome to the site!!! That is truly one awesome tacticle 10/22!!! The stock is the same one I have on order. It's Choate right? Only I'll have the stock Ruger barrel on mine. Plus some other goodies. That stock is the same one I mentioned to a certain person who's moniker is that of a large fast African cat. And he just ignored me! Sob,cry waah. Well now he see's my wisdom and yours at what stock to use to make a truly cool tacticle 10/22! Keep up the good work! :D :usa:
It shoots pretty good, I'm not much into shooting groups - if I can hit a rabbit in the head at 50 yards I'm happy. I can't see any great difference in accuracy compared to the 18". I wanted the gun to be light for long walks, and compact for shooting from the car, so it's pretty much perfect for my needs.
I'm hoping to get a fully silenced match barrel for it next - I just need to find around $500 :(

Welcome Crieffy!
That's a sweet setup you've got there!! How does that laser work out for you? And as for the mags clipped together, I've seen a setup somewhere where you could clip for mags together... just don't remember where that was... Oh well... must be that over 30 thing... you know... the first thing to go when you hit 30... can't remember what it was.... ahhh!!! Memory!!! That's it!!! I can't remember sh** sometimes... Have you thought about a bipod? Comes in real handy when you need a steady rest.

Hi germanguy,
The laser isn't much use in daylight (it's just a cheap thing I got off Ebay) it looks cool though!. In low light and early evening the dot is easily visible 400 yards away. I just got it for the really close shots where the scope isn't much use.
The mag clips were by E+L Manufacturing, I got em from the Hawktecharms site - only $7.95. They make one which clips four mags together and has storage for 40 rounds in the centre.
There's the odd time I could use a bipod, but most of the time I'm shooting rabbits in long grass (usually wet grass with sheep s**t all around <_< ). If there was a lightweight and not too expensive bipod available I'd probably give it a try.
ralrein1 - yup, it is Choate's pistol grip stock. I might be getting a Muzzelite Bullpup stock for it next week. I'll post pics if I get it :)

Crieffy,
The bipod I have on mine is a cheap chinese made. I think it was like 20 Bucks on Cheaper Than Dirt (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com). It's not exactly lightweight, but I like it alot. You can check it out in my gallery post. :)

That is one beautiful looking rifle. What is the overall length? I am trying to decide what stock to get.

Welcome to the forum mrcosmos. That's the main problem with the 10/22. There are sooooo many options available for the 10/22 it's hard to decide. That's why I have 2, and am thinking of #3. IF you can take in a large gun show, you can see many up close to help you decide.
BTW I don't know if you noticed, but crieffy is from the Shetland Islands where he can cut the barrel very short legally. We can't cut less than 16" here.

Thanks for the welcome cajungeo. I know about the barrel length thing, I just figured I would add 4 inches to his total and figure out what mine would be. This forum is awesome! Just yesterday I did the auto bolt mod. I just can't believe the great community and wealth of info here.
Oops, I just realized my barrel is longer than 16 inches.

Hi Mrcosmos,
Glad you like my rifle - it's overall length is 32.5" including the silencer which is about 4" long. My bullpup stock came for it yesterday :D I'll post a pic of it in the next couple of days.
John
Well here it is with the Muzzelite Bullpup stock fitted. I can't believe it's the same gun... off out to see how it shoots...

Are you sure it's the same gun? Just kidding. The Bullpup does change things a bunch. Looks very Hi-Tech. ;)
Well, it shoots great - and it's great fun! Had to give the scope 20 clicks up to compensate for it sitting higher. Trigger is not too bad - a wee bit spongy feeling, but the pull is still light. There's a slight plastic clacking sound when shooting, but no worse than a factory synthetic stock
I am giving serious thought to Ironwood's AUG design. Looks like it would be very comfortable to shoot, the trigger is good, and the scope is mounted lower too. I've started saving my pennies....
jeez...start sending me your old stocks when you get done with them..

Here is a very good how to modify the Bullpup stock to make it even better.

You can legally cut your barrel on any gun as short as you desire. There are sveral steps that you must first take to keep it legal. You must fill a Form 1 with the ATF along with a $200.00 check. You must tell them how short and all the info on the gun. When the approved Form 1 comes back from the ATF you can start cutting.
You can locate addl. info on this subject at www.subguns.com

also, that $200 check is a one time thing, after that you can simply send in more forms and wait for authorization.

No, you must pay a $200.00 NFA tax for each SBR you build or purchase. If you are saying that you only pay the $200.00 once for each weapon then you are correct. This is not a reoccuring expense on a single weapon.
Supressors are also legal in about 39 states and full auto's in a couple more if memory serves me. The fee and process are basically the same as for a SBR.

Added some more bits - an integrally suppressed barrel, 3-9x40 mil-dot scope, a CPC headspaced and pinned bolt. Also, I bedded the action and opened up the stock to free float the barrel. Also pictured is the Logun lamping kit - for the night bunny blasting. Oh yeah, bought a bipod for it too. This has been a very expensive month!

What prompted the switch back to the Chaote stock? Looks great!
The bullpup was fine but unfortunately, with scope on, it couldn't fit in my gun cabinet :( I thought about cutting down the handle and mounting the scope lower but was worried it wouldn't line up very well. If I had 2 rifles I would have kept the bullpup as an open sight plinker.

Yet another stock - this is definitely the last one! Got it last week and it looks and feels fantastic! Fits like a glove.

They just keep getting better. Maybe you need another 10/22 so you can switch back and forth without tearing down the rifle each time. ;)
I wish I could have some more 10/22s - unfortunately our local police aren't keen on us having many guns of the same calibre :( I could do with two 10/22s - this one is pretty much set up for subsonic shooting. It would be nice to have one for high velocity stuff - could always go for a 10/22 Mag but ammo is very expensive here.
I think i'll be sticking with the Barracuda stock tho.. just feels so good to shoot (and look at :D )
