Finally bought one

Well gents I want to start by thanking everyone for their advince about purchasing a 22LR pistol. I finally decided which one to get. Availability and my favorite store came into play. I got a Ruger MK11 government model with the 6 and 7/8s bull barrel. It was used in very good condition for $249.00 No one had a 22/45 and I was tired of shopping around. I went to the dealer I trusted most. I haven't had time to fire it yet. I will wait till the weather breaks. Since I retired from the National Guard I am choosey about the weather I go out in. :cool:

The gun is blued with black plastic grips with the Ruger logo. Today I will attempt to take it down and put it back together, I found an illustrated guide in the library.

I had a gun store owner that knew th intacacies of the gun show me how to do it. I tried to do the take down and rebuild myself and even with a great illustrations had problems. Once he showed me what I was doing wrong I have had no issues. Congrats on your new purchase You cant go wrong with that pistol.

Sounds good but wonder why someone could not have ordered a 22/45 for you??

Geno, simple I didn't ask. I was inching to buy and I found one that was close to what I wanted so I grabbed it. I also did not want to obligate myself to a pistol without handling it first. My usual dealer would have ordered it for me without any obligation but I would have felt some any way.

Also I had the cash in hand and the wife's begruding OK to get it. So I bought it before some other pressing need for the money came up. A ruger in the hand is worth 2 on order.
