View Full Version : Problem with Hornady die.
I'm a novice reloader. Yesterday I tried to reload .308. I never got past the sizing die. I could not get the full length sizing die to run down the full lenth of the case. I would not go past the last 1/8 inch, give or take a little. Shouldn't it go to the bottom of the case? When I removed the full length sizing die and replaced it with a neck sizing die I had no problmes. The brass was maybe shot once. Perfect condition. I would appreciate any information, advice, warnings, or suggestions.
Thank you!

What are you using for sizing lube, and how much of it?
Measure the case ahead of the extractor groove and again at the shoulder. How does this compare to to the measurments of a new factory case?
Smoke the neck (soot from a match or candle), how far down is the die getting on the neck before it stops? If it's reaching the shoulder your sized down far enough.
Are you sure the FLD is a .308 and not 30-06? Also, check the adjustment on your decapping rod, it may be bottoming out.
