Friend shot a 7.62x39 chinese, w/ a factory chinese 20 round mag... new with only 20 rounds fired, we fired 139 rounds and had 3-4 jams, 2 FTF, 2 FTE once when i loaded and fired and the rest from the friend. Wandering if the SKS has a break in period, or, if you need to make sure you push the cartridges down at the rearmost part of the cartridge to make sure they're loading in the mag right, seated properly (is there a way to do that?)...thoughts?

I had an SKS for years. Wolf stuff ran fine in mine without one misfire. I did have to disassemle it and get the packing grease out though. If the rifle is clean and still wont run wolf ammo then you need to take it to a gunsmith or somebody that know them well.

it is a fixed mag...i thought bending springs would hurt it. It is new...most the time it fired and fed 20 rounds fine, only a few times did we have a hang up...maybe not pushing the rounds in from the rear most part of the stripper clip causes them to not sit in the mag properly?

I never went out of my way to make sure they were all the way back. I guess you need to try that.

Also make sure the gas port is clean, if it gets a bit fouled the gun will short-cycle and jam on you. The 21" barrel SKS should function flawlessly on Wolf ammo as it is darn close to the old milspec Soviet stuff. The 16" Paratroopers will often prefer something hotter than the Wolf ammo and will occasionally short-cycle on it.

I've shot plenty of Wolf through my SKS. Did you make sure to clean out the gas system thoroughly?

they were failures to feed...i.e. getting hung up on the small place under the breech...leads me to believe it has something to do with the magazines...
