I am interested in an Encore pistol in rifle calibers, such as the 243. I have a handicap in my right arm and was wondering how bad the "kick" was. Does it compare to anything like a pistol caliber?

While I have not shot a .243 Encore, I have shot a .243 in a Savage Striker Handgun. Granted the recoil sensation is totally different between a Striker and an Encore. I feel the Rear Grip design of the Encore actually produces less felt recoil. With that said the Recoil of the Savage Striker I had was about like a heavily loaded .357 Magnum (or maybe slightly more). It was by no means a heavy recoiling caliber at all. Actually I thought the Bark was a lot worse than the Bite, as the muzzle blast with certain powders was horrible.

Get the barrel with a muzzel brake and felt recoil will be reduced by 30%. I shoot a 45-70 16" on my T/C and its no worse then a stiff 44mag

Borrow, bum, try one somewhere. Pistols DONOT recoil like a rifle Period. I know people who can shoot 45-70, 450gr full load rifle stuff all day, hand them my 30-30 pistol with 150 grain full house stuff and they'er hurtin' . Experimenting with a 223 Rem or 7 mm T/CU just IS NOT the same, they are Great fun and amazingly accurate, but will give you NO CLUE about the next 2 levels of power. A 45 LC is fun. A 44 mag in a 10" or less can be more than some CAN handle in a T/C.
Not tryin' to scare any one just try it fore' you $$$ it.
17 Rem, 223, 7 mm T/CU, 30-30, 45 LC in T/Cs, 45 Para-Ord.And plenty of other stuff.

Shoot a .30-06 and a .444 Marlin in 15" Encore. I put brakes on both of them and now they are pussy cats.

Buy it, shoot it and if it is too much then put a brake on it.
