Here is the Final Standing for 2003 10/22 - Shooting Champ - Standard Class.

To the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place shooters in the STD Class, "Good shooten!" Please update your signature to reflect your achievement.

I was surprised and disappointed in the participation in this contest. I am sure the results would have been much different with more shooters entering. I do want to thank the members that took some time to enter.

I learned much from this contest in my own personal marksmanship. The main thing is how you used to shoot, is different than how you shoot today! Things change over time. Skills tend to go downhill quickly without practice. Practice is something all of us need more of, whether we are hunters, or using our equipment and skills in self-defense. Without practice we will be nothing more than plinkers. Plinking is ok for fun, but I always felt that guns are tools, and an extension of ourselves. If I may borrow a phrase from our Army brothers; Be all you can be! This fits with ones abilities in all areas of our lives.

I hope all of you have a Happy, Prosperous, and Safe New 2004 Year!!!! I hope along with your other New Year's Resolutions, you will think about shooting more and improving your shooting skills. One day your life may depend on it.

I have cancelled the Shooting contest until more interest is shown. Till then you may post any target (Objects, or paper targets) in this section or make any comment such as range reports etc.

Sorry for the graphics. If you see an error please PM me.

I had high hopes the contest would encourage members to shoot. Look at all the mini-14 members we have, and not much better turn out than in the smaller 10/22 section. All those rifles, and not much shooting going on. Maybe it was too structured, I don't know. Can't figure it.

I still plan on posting some good groups, or unusal targets. Still will be tuning, tweeking my 10/22's. The range work won't change much for me. It just won't be an official match---well maybe we will put one together this summer if the interest is there.

Till then I encourage you to use this section to post a target (your choice) and challenge anyone to beat you using the same target/range etc. (leave a link and please abide by its copyright or I will have to delete it. <_< ). I have a feeling the ones that participated before will take up the challenge. If we have enough fun others may join in, if not it's their loss. ;)

I have scraped my Quick & dirty to continue modifing it as a silohuette (Offhand) rifle. I fired it off hand before Christmas, but only had the 6-24x42 target scope on it. Even on 6x there was so much movement I couldn't hit the paper, but now and then. I also plan to post before, and after target when doing an accuracy mod.

So don't feel like we are finished here in the target section, we have just changed it to an open challenge, anytime you think you have the stuff :P :D

I wish I had the time to continue my participation in the standard class. My schedule is more free now though, and I should be able to make it to the range about 2x per month.
I really like the idea of someone picking a target, doing their best, then posting it with a link for that target. Then everyone else can print off that target, and post their best on the same thread. Yeah, that would be cool.
Whatever happens, I am glad I have participated in this fourm so far. I have made some very cool mods to my gun, and have improved my accuracy 100x.
