View Full Version : REMINGTON 1903A3
I inherited a sportsterized riflr that I would tike to try to put back to military configuration (The best I can, I know it will never be right). I found some web sites that have parts, but wanted to know if any one knew a one stop shop place. I need the stock and all the trimmings as well as the rear and front sights. The rifle was drilled and tapped for a scope so I might just make it an A4 wanna be.

Has anyone bought the USMC front sight cover from Sarco? $35 seems pricey, is it worth it?
Well its been awhile, but I'm just about done with my wannabe A4. I had a stock made, bought all the hardware from Sarco and a Leupold mount and scope. I just have to get to the range and shoot it in now.

:usa: Be sure to use military ammo as it is made for this type rifle . Commercial ammo can be to hot for your rifle. you may split your barrel or have it blow up in your face and that would ruin your day as well as your rifle.
I my self have a MARK I with a 1919 barrel and M2 ball and reloads to military specs. is all I use in it, it shoots fine. up to 1000yds +
A friend of mine is an armorer at the CMP CAMP PERRY OHIO and he has said not to go with a bullet over 150 gr.as it takes a higher powder charge :sniper:

I have a Mark I that I shoot both Federal and Winchester ammo marked .30-06 Springfield. Get it at Gander Mountain for $10.00/box of 20. It is either 147 or 150 grain and both shoot very well in mine. Tried to go cheap with Barnaul but the casings kept sticking in the chamber. Gun show locally next weekend. May look for some milsurp ammo there, but I am very happy with what I am using. Since I don't shoot more that 40 rounds at once, and not that often withh this rifle, price is not that great a concern to me. Every couple of weeks I stop buy a get a box to keep my supplies up.
If your Remington-made 03A3 headspaces correctly, it should be safe with any commercial or military ammo. Flowboy, where do you get this information regarding 1903 rifles having to use military ammo and being unsafe with modern commercial loads?
