Hi guys- I've seen a Lama .45acp down at the local gun&pawn. It appears to be in like new condition. For around $250.00. Are these pistols at all decent? It's just a mil-spec 1911-A1. I already have a very nice Springfield .45 , so I not looking to spend 7 or 8 hundred more bucks on a new .45. Fact only please. No mad rants. Thank you all in advance. :) :usa:
SOFT METAL.VERY LOW QUALITY FIREARM.
Very limited parts interchangeablility. Most look good on the outside but very poor machining and fitting on the inside. Llama is a recognized leader in inconsistant quality contol. Actually if you are lucky enough to get a good one you got a right good one but if you got a bad one sell it to somebody you don't like and try again. I would only give you about a 40 percent chance of getting a good one though.
Pretty much what the others guys said......I would'nt have one purely because of the non-parts-interchange thing.....but the shoddy workmanship is another good reason.
If you want a low-cost 1911 pistol, why not try Rock River Arms? Never seen one, but, their AR15's are TOPNOTCH!!

I hear you Quadfan- Rock River does make good stuff and their prices on both AR-15 uppers and rifles are very good too. However their .45's are very pricey. The cheapest one is around $850.00 or so. I hear Rock Island Armory .45's are around $300.00 to $400.00 and are pretty darn good. So I'm starten to lean that way. :D :usa:

Rock Island .45s go on sale at a local shop around here for $329 pretty frequently. That's not bad money on a brand new pistol. No personal experience with them, but have heard they are good for the money. I'm very happy with my Springfield, but that's getting into a little more money, and you said you've already got one of those :D . May want to sniff around for a good used 1911, though, depending on your area. I recently saw a stainless steel long slide (a Witness, I think, but my memory isn't that great), at a local shop for $350.

Someome I know just bought one. After about 300 rounds the ejector broke off. I have repaired it, but we will see how long it will take before something else goes.
