Swill... that's totally fake!! :D

We finally get to see a true "work in progress." :D Hey, was there a reason for cutting so much of the forestock off, other than that you wanna use the material for a cheekrest?

:o
i wanted a real floating barrel
no i can not reach much past the magazine to hold it up anyway, i prop my elbow against my stomach for support. i have arthritis in both sholders and i can only sholder a weapon a short time without support. you know why i like bi-pods now. the idea to cut it was for looks and some wood for cheek rest. :D
i am going to the woods for the weekend and put a few hundred rounds through it. :sniper:

Looks like major surgery there doc. I guess you are going to add a thumbhole? The way you shoot is similar to Silhouette shooters. Their arms make contact along their bodies to help stabilize their rifle better. Keep us posted on your work in progress.

;)
no thumb hole. :( the pistol grip is not big enough, my pinky hangs in the air. <_< i am thinking about using 1" of the fat end of the forestock to add to the bottom of the grip. also thinking about cutting finger grooves in the grip

I wish I was good enough at wood work (read: had the patients) to do stuff like that.. Thats really sweet.

How do you plan on attaching the check rest? just rough it up then glue?

Please keep us posted with updates and pics.

:)
thanks heatattack,
it really took longer to think it all out than it did to cut it up. i used a hand held air grinder with #80 grit tootsie rolls. they are used to port and polish raceing engine parts and it removes wood like crazy. i plan to cut down the forestock material where it will fit over the buttstock and screw it on with 2 bronze wood screws. :)

I can already see what it would look like with the check rest on, and attached the way you plan on doing it, really very classy and neat. Im not sure about the finger cruves though.... Its hard to picture how they would look.

You might want to consider sanding he stock alittle around the reciever while you are at it so everything fits like it is sposed to, I know on my standard stock the wood is sticking up a few milimeters above the metal in a few places. Might as well bed it while you got it all tore up if you do plan on bedding it. (My first and last bedding job went astray and I ended up with a 2 piece stock in order to get my gun out :( Id like to try again with more instructions and pictures though. )

Anyways again keep us updated and good luck.

hey, germanguy. i shot all weekend with it and my new 45-70 lee enfield. the 10/22 needs some grinding on the pistol grip so my little short stubby finger will reach the trigger better. :D i have not floated the barrel yet and i need to get a recoil buffer. where do i get the best buffer? it is shooting a little tighter group than before i bulled it. i will probably work on the 10/22 this weekend and will be gone deer hunting the following weekend. :cannon: then i am going hog hunting. :cannon:
i will keep you posted on mods. ;)

hey pdaddy,
10/22's are cheap to operate and modify. :D i will work on it some this weekend for you. i still need to remove some wood from the pistol grip and under the barrel. i have a recoil buffer and extractor coming from weaponkraft. i did not need the extractor but i got it as a package deal. yes the barrel is a 20" bull from "green mountain" and i have a "power custom" hammer and sear kit to install later. stay tuned for updates.
 :usa:

p.s. how are your wife and little girl doing since the old witch attack in the park? also i have not received my piece of birthday cake, must be lost in the mail. have you eatten your jack bunny yet?

I actually did all the cutting and so on at my parants house (cuase they got a big ass fridge), and my mom is a wicked one when it's cooking time B) so she's gona make the sunday dinners and invite us over. ;)
yes, i enjoy chatting with others from around the world too. :D i grew up in germany in the early '50's and i like the european life style. i have been back several times over the years, last time in '98 for 6 weeks with my wife. this was her first visit and she loved it.
i am not trying to be a smart a**, however you should be "COCKING" the gun and "COOKING" the game. ;)
the 10/22 is a great little rifle and cheap. the new bull barrel was $90, hammer & sear kit was $55 and the recoil buffer & extractor w/new takedown hex head screw & "T" handle hex wrench were $24. ammo is about $10 for 500 rnds. you can not beat that for cheap fun. :ar15: what kind of costs are involved with UPS charges to get things from here? :(
 :usa:

p.s. you should make the baby a hand warmer from bunny fur. :D

Thx for the spelling check :D , well im just a stupid Swede so i will make misstakes some times.. haa haa haa..

So you like the European way, well thats nice. You should visit Sweden to my friend, the german's come here like crazy people (they love Sweden)
Must be over free laws about being out camping etc in the nature + we got Mose here :D

About the HAre, yee i should have saved the fur is very soft. I did actually keep the tail  , my wife hate it but my daughter loves it hehehehe..

Marcus

P.S i'm right now taking care of her, it's bed time soon for her and she's getting real hard to handle at this moment <_<

Write more soon..

:o
update.....
i have put the wood grinding on the back burner and purchased a butler creek synth. target stock with the new "soft grip" textured forearm & pistol grip. it is channeled for a .920 barrel and has steel bedding post. $61.95+ s&h = $70+- @ FAC guns & stuff.:D

i need some plastic material to finish the pistol grip extention on the wooden stock and it is too cold outside now. my arthritis will not let me work long with the grinder.

this quote is what made me buy the "soft grip". "Makes extended shooting sessions a pleasure". how much better could it get? Hot Damm! i can't wait.

Hey Pdaddy!

When I still lived in the old country, I always wanted to visit Sweden to check out all the tall blondes. I mean nature! Experience all the wide open spaces! Yeah, that's what I meant... :D The one thing that always kept me from actually doing it though were the outrageous prices for alcoholic beverages. One trip would have meant financial ruin for me. So I just looked at pictures instead. You know... of nature... :D

Swill!!

Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet? :D

Hee hee hee ... Nice excuse "TheGermanGuy" :D

Well prices on alcohol is still very high by any standards.. And i does suck that you only can buy licker and strong beer at the "Systembolaget"..
If you go out and take a beer @ a bar it will cost from 40-55 SEK (5-6,8 US $)

Well if you go here from Germany, then you stop by Denmark and by plenty of cheep nice beer ;) , then you'll have a large stack of beer with you that will last the hole darn tripp .. heheheh
