Here is the latest incarnation of my new 10/22 as of Sept. 28th, 2003. It started out as a standard Stainless model with a synthetic stock but quickly evolved above and beyond that.

Additions so far:
Power Custom Matched Hammer & Sear Kit
Volquartsen Target Disconnector
Volquartsen Recoil Buffer
Leupold Standard Scope Base
Leupold 1" Standard Scope Rings, Medium
Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 AO Scope
4" Nikon Sun Shade
Extended Magazine Release
Fajen Thumbhole Silhouette Stock, Midnight (I bought this stock unfinished as I thought it would make the project even more special by doing the finishing work myself. I devoted 9 straight hours of sanding to this baby and by the end my fingers were all on the verge of blistering but the results are totally worth it! I have 5 coats of Tru-Oil gun stock finish on it so far... Let's just say it's quite smooth!) :D
Butler Creek Stainless Barrel, 20", Fluted with Tri-Port Compensator
Floated the Barrel
Bedded the Barrel and Receiver
Modified the Bolt Release (auto bolt release mod)
Modified the Bolt (improved bolt cycling and reduce stovepipes)

That's a real beauty! I really admire people that can finish a stock like that. I'm just too damn impatient... :D One day I'll try though...

P.S.: The picture quality is just fine :D

Welcome to the forum SoulForce. That is one awsome looken 10/22. Looks like it will be a real shooter. There is still time to enter our Sept. shooting contest. Enter even if you don't have it fully tunned. Then each month you will see how much you improved.

I know what you mean about sanding. I have the same stock, but in coffie. You did a good job on your stock. It looks good with the stainless.

Updated the picture of my rifle. Most recent modifications are: Floated and bedded the gun, modified the bolt release and replaced my Leupold Vari-X II with a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 AO Scope. Haven't had a chance to shoot since doing these mods as I am still letting the bedding set. Hope they help! Time will tell! :P

Dang me she looks good!!

Is the barrel new too? I don't remember you having a compensator on your rifle. Are you trying to sneak one by us? :D

GermanGuy,

Thanks for the compliment. I tend to think the gun looks pretty nice too! Though I might be a bit biased! This is the same barrel as when I first posted a picture. However, I don't think it showed up as well in the old picture. I broke out my set of hot lights and set them up so that the gun would be lighted better this time. That could be why the compensator is more apparent in these pictures. Come now, I wouldn't try and slip one by you guys! I know better than that! ;)

Yeah... I guess it's all about the lighting...

If you look at my update in the gallery, you can see I just set the gun down on the deck. Why not?? Plenty sunlight out there!! Yeah... and shadows too... lol :D

I would have taken pictures outside as well since sunlight is pretty much the best lighting for pictures... however its been really rainy lately. Not too excited about trying to take pictures in the rain! I really like your gun GermanGuy. The next rifle I build will be all black. I nearly went all black with this gun, but decided to do something a little different. I'm glad I did too. :D

Looks good soulforce. Just a wild guess you shoot PMC ammo? You will have to let us know how it shoots.

I love the stock, I too got unfinished in coffee so I too could have hours and hours of sanding fun .
