View Full Version : 44 mag Carbine
Marline came out for one year only with that 16.5 inch lever gun in 44 mag, based on their successful guide gun. Should have got one at the time but now it is gone. They don't make it no mo. Anybody here own a winchester trapper? I always liked the marlins better but if that is all there is to get that is what I will get.

HEY 280MAN. I have a winchester trapper 94AE 44 Mag. I have had feeding problems since I bought it in 1989. It only seems to like to feed one kind of ammo (PMC 240grain JHP). I am going to try to ramp/polish the feed ramp. Mine is an older model, pre-cross bolt safety. Maybe they have fixed this problem I don't know. I have tried many types of ammo, all to no avail...

Me again, I also own a Marlin 1894 44 Mag, It is an older one with the microgroove rifling. Loves Federal hydrashok 240 grain jhp (2-3 inch groups at 100 yards). I was thinking about purchasing a newer (marlin) one with the 6 groove rifling, but tthe twist rate is 1/38. I don't know if it will stabilize the fed 300 grain castcores or corbon 320 grain cast loads I like to use for hunting though. Maybe the Ruger 96/44 might...
