View Full Version : Savage Model 7
My cousin gave me my grandpa's old Savage model 7 to work on because the bolt is stuck close. It is an autoloader in 22LR I can not find anything on the savage site or on the internet. Does anyone know where I can g an exploded viewet a schematic on the gun or an exploded view? Any Ideas on what could have the bolt stuck closed?

Numrich gunparts should have parts for the Savage line of rifles. I have dealt with them in the past and have been very pleased with the prompt service I recieved. They have a web site. Just go to your browser and type in Numrich gunparts and it should take you right to the site. I have a pre WW2 model 6 semiautomatic rimfire Savage and simply love the rifle. It seems that the word "quality" really meant something back then. Hope that I've helped you!

Are you sure that it's a model 7? I checked my Numrich catalog and did not see a listing. Hmm, I'm willing to bet you that it's a model 6. If that's the case then you simply pull the bolt out to unlock the rifle and push it in to lock. The locking feature is for short and long 22 caliber and it will cycle semi auto only with long rifle ammo. You can lock the bolt between shots just like a bolt action. :sniper: I would check to see just what you have then you can go from there. :)
Thanks for the help... I am sure it is a model 7 it is stamped right on the barrel. I did get the bolt back about 15 minutes after I posted. It was a simple set screw that he had turned in to far. I am now in the process of refinishing the rifle. That website will help alot when it comes time to order some new parts for this old girl. You are right about this old gun it still shoots great and the thing is rugged as alll get out. After I get tit refinished I will post a pic for yah.
