 My friend finally got his CMP Garand (Springfield Service Grade). The stock is...well, it appears to be a non-GI replacement of some type. There are marks where someone has cut away wood for the hardware (such as the trigger group) to fit. The cuts look fresh and are uneven and unsanded - the wood appears as though not oiled, aged, or finished. The entire stock seems thicker than normal. Could this be a Boyd''s??? The rifle came with a Boyd''s sales pamphlet. Thanks

Orest Michaels has stated that CMP has not bought any Boyds stocks what they get comes from the services then to the Army who sends them to CMP. The Boyds flyer is put with every Garand to tell people where to get replacement stocks. Is it birch or walnut? Think of it this way to buy Boyds stocks would add to the price Cmp would need to charge not alone the time to hand fit each one.
