View Full Version : hungarian AMD-65
if you got one post a pic.
if you got a kit for sale let me know.
i have been contemplating building one of these bad boys :ar15:
Here's a pic of the amd i built on a bent metal blank. I finally got a chance to shoot it this weekend. Should be a fun little rifle. The wire stock is uncomfortable and muzzle blast hits you in the face, which just adds to the fun  Now I need a couple of drums and I'll be set.
The kit I got appeared to have been unfired. Wish i would have bought 2 or 3 when they were selling for $120.
hey that looks outstanding!!! great job..
what is bent metal blank??

Hey guy. go to www.1919a4.com and check out Weaponer2000's group buy. They are at 105.00$ right now and tomorrow we will have another offer from centerfire systems. Hopefully they will be a little cheaper. I orderd 2 and a buddy orderd 2. you need to get in on this before the buy is over. I am a member there also. you can find my post's under Carlos H. I use the same signature.he just stared a web site on group buys and he also has other goodies for us. :rapid: I have two of thease. I am finishing my second build now. :rapid: HTH Coon dawg
A bent metal is a piece of 4130 steel bent to resemble an AK receiver, you have to do a bit of cutting, drilling and filing to get a usable recevier. You can get themhere (http://bent-metal.com) for $25. I've done two builds with them and it was kind of fun to go at it with a drill and a dremel, but if I do any more I'll just go through my ffl and get complete OOW receiver for $60.
For under $105, I might have to get in on that group buy.

You need the 20 rnd tanker mags from tapco for 6$, I cant say enough about the quality. How did you make the mag dimples?
:) Just received my AMD-65 kit from Centerfire Arms. They have a special going until 1 Nov 03 - $99.95 gets you the standard, numbers matching parts kit, sling, oil bottles, and cleaning kit. They advertise the kit as good to very good with 60% blue. I must have got a VG because it appears to be in great shape. I shopped for an AMD kit for awhile after seeing them in a Guns-N-Stuff flyer ($149.95) and this is the best deal I found. Website is http://www.centerfiresystems.com/ Hope this helps.

Hey ADNEXED: I am nearly finished with my AMD65 built from a kit (I'm using a standard AKM receiver blank from OOW), but I'm having difficulty determining how the rear trunion/stock fits into the rear of the receiver allowing for the screwpin/coiled spring assembly to go into the trunion from the bottem. I know the screw with the coild spring is supposed to go in from the bottom and then screw is screwed into the little metal "tab" that's sitting on top of the rear trunion. My question is, is the rear trunion supposed to be inserted all the way into the rear of the receiver so that it is flush with the rear edges of the receiver, and then the srew pin goes in from the bottom through the bottom of the receiver, then up through the trunion?? I know this is wordy, but it's the only way I know how to describe it! I can email a pic to you if it would help. I'd really appreciate it!! :(
The rear trunnion should be flush with the recevier and the screw should go through the bottom of the trunnion. I've got a close up of what mine looks like. Of course, since the screw also acts as the push button for the folder, it can't actually be functional. What I did was drill the hole undersized for thick part of the screw. Now its impossible to push the button to make it fold, but if the AWB actually sunsets next year all I have to do is drill the hole a little larger.
boogeyman: I missed you're post way back in Oct, in case you're still wondereing, I didn't actually put any dimples in the receiver. Its hard to tell in the pictures since they're so dark. The lower rails do a good enough job keeping the mag from wobbling, the dimples aren't really needed. It really wouldn't be too hard to rig up some kind of die to press in some dimples though.
I still haven't got any of the "correct" 20 rd mags either, tapco was running a sale on 75 rd drums too, and I just couldn't resist. They make the AMD-65 look kinda like a Tommy gun's ugly inbred cousin. ;)
