View Full Version : XLT's Targets
Ok, here's my iron sight target, was using original peep sight that came with my Reg SS mini-14. I was smiling when I walked up and seen the group. :D The only mod I have done was put on a MB. I got to go out again and try to tie the big 50!
And here is my scope target. I was sighting in my scope for the first time, notice that I had 6 rds left. During this time I also was using the peep sights to post the iron sight target. It was still shooting high, put up the official target, took a guess at how many clicks to go down, and well...... :( I have an ATN scope. The manual says that for every click it moves 1/8" at a 100 yards. Bull. More like 3/8". Anyway, I also noticed that I think I should bed the stock with that flier. Should get rid of it, eh?

Hey XLT. Thats a nice group, and score on your 50 yd. iron sight. Is that one hole touching the 10 ring? If so that is another point.
When I sight in a scope I shoot groups of 3, and use the center of the triangle to adjust to. I start at 25 yd, then 50, then 100. Or if I just take my scope off and put back on If I can hit the paper at 100 yds. I can walk my POI into the bull using the scope. Bedding the stock, and a trigger job will take care of flyers.

XLT---great iron sight target! You can never go wrong with a good trigger job & bedding the action. I don't think this is a real problem for you by the looks of the iron sight target. That is a really bad target to sight in a scope with, try to find a target with diamond shapes, makes it real easy to aline your cross hairs. There are lots of free targets available on the Internet. Make sure your rings are good & tight too.
Great group

Thanks for the tips guys. The ATN scope has cross hairs with a dot. The dot is slightly bigger than the bullseye. I was using a different target to sight in with, with a bigger bullseye, but using a target with triangles I can see would help a lot. I did start out at 25 yds, then 50, then 100 yds. Thats why I ran out of ammo. Having to much fun in between. ;) This shooting contest is a great Idea.

XLT that score looks like a 49 to me. Don't short yourself that one point. :) When you shoot competition, if the hole is touching the ring at all it is counted as a higher score.
