Three months ago, AWBansunset.com launched its first letter drive to let Congress know where we stood. Shortly afterwards, Tom DeLay made the comment that any '94 ban renewal would not pass the House. We'd like to think we may have had a part provoking this statement.

Now it's time to remind our elected officials of our steadfast opposition to any assault weapon ban. Are you ready for the next evolution?

By August 17th, write letters to any and all of the elected officials listed below. On Monday, August 18th, place them in the mail.

For you busy gunowners, there are letter templates available at THIS PAGE (http://www.awbansunset.com/writeofficials.html) Simply season to taste.

Make sure to include your own reps and senators at the top of this list. You can find out your reps contact info HERE (http://www.nra.org/frame.cfm?title=NRA%20Institute%20for%20Legislativ e%20Action&url=http://www.nraila.org).

Well I recieved another response from my congressman. So I'm gonna post, it-goes like this: Thank you for your further comments concerning specifically the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 as well as H.R. 2038, the Assualt Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003. Please know that I will continue to monitor this important issue and will certainly keep your views in mind when it comes to a vote in the House of Representitives. I would like to re-emphasize that I strongly support our citizens' 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. As such, I will actively seek to repeal any legislation or measure that would curtail this constitutional right. Again, thank you for writing. If there is any way that I can be of further service to you, please don't hesitate to contact me..........Well at least this time he mentions them by name. I am encouraged by this response. However I will not stop wriing letters to him or my Senators. Whom by the way have not written me back yet! The fight goes on!!!!!! :D :usa:

I dont mean to throw cold water on this but Prez Bush does want the bill and next Sept will be the zenith of the presidential campaign. To appease moderate democrats it would not surprise me at all that the wimpy republicans would cave in on this and pass another AWB (consider the recent Estrada fiasco where they did nothing to help him) for Bush. And dont forget that any shooting will be exploited by the leftist media in order to generate public sympathy for it. Congress seeing that probably 95% of voters who were polled by CNN want this stupid law will almost certainly cave in like the spineless drones they are.

The funny thing about the second amendment is that we will never need it until they take it away.
