If any of you have experience (not theory) reloading the .22Hornet I would
sure appreciate some help. I need your input on the best die set, both brand i.e. Hornady, Lee, Redding, Dillon, etc, and which type, i.e. two die, three die.
I also need to know if any of you use the Lee Factory Crimp Die, in any caliber, but specifically in .22 Hornet. I would like to know if the Lee FCD is really the best way to go for crimping in any caliber. It seems to have overwhelming popularity. Just about everybody I've talked to says it's the best. Is it? It has to be more than just opinion, I would think. It either is, or it isn't.
Thanks for your help!!

dz, I load 22 Hornet, I use Hornady custom dies.....They are a pain to get set up, but load good ammo......As a matter of fact, the 22 Hornet is a pain to load for generally.......But I got a little Bruno that likes to shoot 1/2" groups and it insists that I give it what it wants.......

I've used lee factory crimp dies and they are generally easy to set up and give you consistant crimps on non olgived bullets without crushing cases....I don't use one on the hornet, however....

I used a Lee Collet die and it was satisfactory except than when I seated Winchester 45 gr. hollow point bullets. They would occasionally tip and ruin the brass. I had to use a Lyman M die to start them straight. Then I bought a set of the new Hornady dies with a sleeve that holds the bullet straight. This saved the extra step of using the M die. It works very well.
