View Full Version : Lee Enfeild .308 caliber
I can't for the life of me get my Tasco scope Mt. to work for an Enfield I recently purchased. A few people have pretty much told me to abandon mounting a scope all together and just go with the organic sights. Has anyone achieved success with a Mount for the .308 caliber model. If so which one did you use?
I've never had one chambered in 308. I would think it would be the same as the 303, the only difference is the bore isn't it? Let me do some research, I've got plenty of time on my hands for a week or two.

I'm assuming you did get a mount for an Enfield.

I am assuming you are talkig about a NO.5 SMLE. Try the B Square mount. I had one on a 303 NO.5 that I was satisfied with. A raised cheek rest will help get your eye in line with the scope on this rifle.
Got the B-Square mount...
For whatever reason, I still can't seem to bore sight the rifle. I guess I need to stop using the 39.99 variety Bushnell from Wal-Mart.
Did you center the crosshair adjustments? Did you get parts # 18590? They make one that you have to replace the rear sight to attach it and one that is a receiver mount. Can you get some shim and make the needed adjustments that way?
Seems like I'm asking the questions, huh?

do you have a #1 or #4 enfield, and what mk#?

I had the B-square mount and never could get it zeroed. I just abandoned the whole idea and went with the original open sights.

I use a Weaver TO-1 rail on my 303 Enfield. I got lucky and found it in a junk box at a gun show. I had to use a set of Weaver tip off mounts with this rail. Not a very sturdy set of mounts but it works. I just wanted to see how the old girl grouped with a scope on it. Went back to the original sights though.
Found this mount on website http://www.303british.com/ (http://www.303british.com/)
Go to the bottom of page under scope mounts.
