Hi Guys, Just letting you SKS fans know that a local retailer just received 1000 SKS -D's. For anyone not familar, the SKS D is a standard SKS that accepts AK 47 magazines.( No more unreliable aftermarket duckbill mags !!) I live in Canada and am not sure if these SKS's are legal in the US.Someone told me there are very few of the in the US. They are manufactured by Norinco, and this 1000 piece lot will apparently be the last lot of SKS D's that Norinco will be manufacturing. They are unbelievably cheap $199.00 CDN ea ( $140.00 USD ea) As I mentioned I'm not sure of the legality of these in the US. They are available at Lever Arms in Vancouver B.C.

you guy's are one up on us with the Chi Com rifles. NO new imports of SKS D's or Norinco M14's for us down here. Thats about how much I paid for my D model back in 92.

Are they stamped and pinned or milled and threaded?

I'd be almost 100% sure they're stamped and pinned!
I've had numerous Norinco's in various configs, and they were all stampe and pinned.

I seem to see a lot of threaded chi-coms around here, but by some accounts the pinned ones show better accuracy after they get hot. Still, for that price it doesn't sound like a bad deal. But if I wanted a 7.62X39mm rifle with a detachable mag, I'd still rather go with an AK clone. I like my Russian SKS plenty. But then again, I'm one of those guys who likes military rifles in as close to origional form as possible.

I figure they're stamped and pinned also. I have a PolyTech SKS that's all milled and threaded. Saw a friend with a stamped and pinned rifle that's had the #(%$ shot out of it. The thing still functions but is not as accurate as mine. As far as the detachable mag, I agree with Karbine Kid.....go with the AK.
