I read on another forum that the importer of the Romanian SAR's was going to quit importing them.If thats the truth the price's could double on the SAR's.They reported that they were going to continue makeing the California legal AK's.But if one company quits importing them someone else will start importing them.I have a VEPR-K AK which cost twice as much as the Romanian model, but I would assume to have one as the other.I hope none of this is true but when 4 or 5 talk the same thing its usually true?

They've said that before, but you never know it might be true. It does seem to run the prices up though. I doubt anyone will pay double for a Romanian SAR. There are plenty of post ban Norinco MAK's in good shape for $375.00 or new Vepr's for around $525.00 also Arsenal USA milled Bulgi's and custom builds by Gunsmiths in the country for $450.00 upwards. Myself I don't think my SAR is close to my Norinco in quality and build.
Could'nt have said it better flak2!
There are ALOT better AK variants out there, and they don't cost much more already!! So a price increase would be a "death note" for the Romanians!!

I had a norinco and another AK that I can't remember the make on in the late 80s and early 90s . Both functioned as good as a yugo in a drag race. While I know the Ak has a history that is beond reproch, my expieriance with import variants turned me off on them. Ok hears the question finaly <_< I can get some Hungarian I beleive made Aks with sinthetic Druginov (Spelling) stocks for around $150 is it worth it?

If they take High-cap mags..........ABSOFUKINLUTLY!!!!
They are pretty good quality AK's....just make sure they take the preban mags!!
Bear 1769. like quadfan said, that'd be a helluva deal if they take hi cap mags. Back in the late 80's early 90's the only AK's I remember were Chi. Com. Norinco and Polytech and a few Egytian Maddi's. I've had very good dependability with the Norinco MAK's. I rate the Chinese MAK's well above the Romanian and Egytian AK's.

That reminds me of a few years ago when SKS prices were starting to climb (I think they were about $119 for Norinco w/bayonet attached).
I was in a Dept. store down in Kansas and noticed they has a sale on SKS's for $74.95!! I walked up to the counter and told the young girl "I'll take EVERY ONE"!!!!! Even the display!!! I walked out of there with 6 of them, and sold them off one at a time over the next year or so....made out like a bandit!!!!!!

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's true. Has something to do with a clause pertaining to importers about "repair or replacement parts" that the scuzzbags have decided to re-interpret to a way of their liking. So the importers it's rumored can't use the parts for making the rifles. Sounds and smells really damn fishy to me. Just another reason to write your representatives. Think this is the same issue with the fal rifles.
The whole deal really is the fault of Bush I, who made an executive order to stop importation of certain firearms that looked scary to their crew of morons. Actually I've heard it was him trying to get revenge on the NRA for their rating of his actions. That guy really did some foolish things during his term and is likely the reason a Democrap was elected. Bush II better not even think of signing an extension of the "AWB/scarry looking black rifles ban" If he does that, he won't ever see my vote again, or anyone else's that cares about freedom. But it's highly unlikely the bill will ever be brought to his desk.
Howver, I don't think you'll see SAR prices increase much at all, because they are WAY OVERPRICED already. Certainly not worth anymore than $200 IMHO. Rumor has it too that some companies that produce em in Eastern Europe are planning on setting up factories here so they can turn em out legally. I'm sure the quality will be much better too.
