View Full Version : 6tcu forming load
got a great 6tcu forming load, if anyone needs one. averages 2700fps with the 80gr sierra single shot pistol bullet in my super 14" contender. that would work perfect for deer, even as a form load. 26.5gr h335,80gr sspb, cci br-4 primer, rem brass. :sniper:

I use basically the same load, only with the 80gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip, Winchester Brass and Winchester Small Rifle Primers. I am getting about the same exact velocity. Accuracy is good, and yes I do indeed plan on trying to take a Whitetail with this load this fall.

i was surprised(tickled to death) that my barrel got that velocity with h335 and 80gr bullets. i was also surprised(disapointed) in the lower velocity i got with imr4198 and h322 with 60 and 70gr bullets(around 2500-2600fps). i still would like to have a good lightweight bullet load for the 6tcu contender and 6br encore. havn't found what i'm looking for in the lightweights yet. by the way, that 80gr sierra sspb is accurate in both barrels. the 13" 6br has 12" twist, and the 14" contender has 10" twist. :D

I am very pleased with the way my 1 in 12" twist 6mm T/CU is shooting the 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips with H-335 (3003 FPS in fireform loads with 1/2" groups). Yea I would like it to have a little less flash and blast, but considering the Velocity and Accuracy I guess I can live with it. I too was not able to get any velocity out of IMR-4198, H-4198SC, H-322 or W-748 with either weight bullet (55's or 80's).

you know, i don't think i've tried h335 with the lighter bullets yet  got too much stuff to keep up with :2guns:
