Hey fellas!

Stumbled on to this site today and I had to register. I spent an enjoyable few hours perusing everyone's Minis and thought I would try to post a pic of mine.

This is the mini my wife gave to me for Christmas last year!!! One helluva suprise!! It had been chopped, tuned, and had a F/S added to it, I made the sling myself. I consistently get MOA or better with it...its the most accurate mini I have ever owned. It will but 20 rounds into 1 big (palm sized) group at 100 yards during rapid fire! I ain't fibbin' ya. My only complaint is the heat! The barrel gets unbearable after a couple of mags.

I intented to post more threads in the other forums. I am wanting to start a couple more Mini projects.....namely a heavy barrel version, and a folder of my own design (similar to Troy Industries M14 SopMod).

Thanks for the great site!

Looks very nice. Is that the choate flash hider? I like the sling, very creative use of a pack shoulder strap!

fastang,

Thanks! I am not sure if that is the choate flash hider. It is stamped C.R. on the left side. It is very loud, I shot it at night and was very suprised to see so little muzzle flash from such a short barrel, so I am attributing the lack of flash to that. If anyone has any pics of custom folding stocks, I would love to see them. Someone said a guy had built one to resemble the Troy Ind. Rock M14 Sopmod......I need a folder/slider on this thing! It would be the ultimate "pack gun".

Oh....keep in mind in when I said "rapid fire" in my first post I didn't mean it would do it "mag dump" style. Just fast aimed shots from a rested position is what I should have said. I was sounding like I had the super sniper 1000+ mini!!!!! Didn't mean to come off like that, I was just impressed with the accuracy for such a short barrel.

Nice weapon. Sure like the way that stock finished out. Wish mine had been
that distinctive in grain. Always nice to have more mini-folk.

Welcome to the forum Jarhead. Your woman is a keeper that gift was special. My brothers x got him a fitness center deal for Christmas, he passed out the first workout, and they had to call the ambulance.

As far as accuracy from a short barrel, several in this forum have done just that. They cut their barrel a couple of inches which stiffens up the thin mini barrel. Thus more accuracy. Several of us have not cut our barrel, but pinned on a muzzle brake, and gotten the same accuracy.

Just a note about the folder in case you wern't aware. To be legal, the rifle had to be in the assault weapon configuration "before" Sept 13, 1994. Your states law may be more severe than the federal. It's a dumb law, but we hafta do the best we can.

The last time I saw a factory folder was over at Wilson's GunWorld in
San Bernardino Ca. I was picking up a couple of USA mags before I knew better
and Jerry had TWO factory folders with hand guards for 250.00 and 275.00
ea. I had already bought his last Butler Creek folder, and got screwed on that.

I don't like to talk about the dead, [Jerry Wilson died of cancer in 1999],
but Jerry optioned to take advantage of newbies to the Ruger firearm. I suppose
he was trying to get as much money to leave to his wife as he could
before he passed. I DID manage to buy the second to last gun that went out of
that store after he died. She closed up right after he passed. I still have it.
A Colt 6" Royal Blue 357 Python. Never shot, unless Colt did it. Jerry was the
first owner, and I bought it NIB for 625.00. Sorry, I digress.

Anyway that was the last Ruger folder I've seen besides the pics here..

cajungeo,

If I put a folder on it, then it would be in violation of the AWB? For some reason I was thinking that since it already had a flashhider and ability to use hi-cap mags then it was already an AW. The first and only owner had the flashhider installed well before the 94 AWB. There is a long story about this gun, but I had been trying to buy it from him for years before my wife succeeded in buying it for me.

Please help me out, I want to stay as legal as heavenly possible.

Jarhead, if you read the links above you will see under federal law with any gun that has the ability to accept a hicap mag, and any 2 of the following---The flash hider is 1 allowed evil. 1 more such as a folder will make it an AW. Again your states laws may be more severe.

"Any gun manufactured or built after September 14, 1994 (post-ban) can only have up to 2 of these dangers on it. If your gun has more than that, and they catch you, the penalty is a $10,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison. If you have a gun made before September 14, 1994 (pre-ban), you are able to have as many of the dangers on it as you would like legally. The caveat is that the gun has to have been in an "assault weapon" configuration on or before the ban took place."

Jar Head,

The finish of your flash hider appaers to match that of your rifle. Did the FH finish match when you got it?; did you polish your rifle's stainless to match?

By the way, that's an awesome looking rifle. Glad to see you've kept the wood stock; most folks whom customize them much go synthetic.
