Web gear prefernce

I've used standard webgear (H & Y straps) etc over many years and have been using a US assault vest lately what's your preference and why?

Have a Custom Tactical Creations vest.Its made of 1000 codura.Carries 12 AR mags,has 2 SAW/utility side pockets and has a hydration pouch.Also has PALS webbing.I can also fit 8 AK mags if I choose to carry my MAK90.Although I have a Russian Vitiaz vest for the MAK90 setup. I have a USGI LBV to use for my MINI 14 and a modified Chineese chest pouch for use with the SKS. I rigged it to the Y harness LBE setup.:D

Even though the thread is a little old I figure I'll chime in. I use a custom Tactical Assault Gear ( http://www.tacticalassaultgear.com ) vest for my Mini-14. It carries 8 30 rnd mags in the front and has storage for up to 4 pistol magazines. Attached to the back I had a parachute rigger friend of mine add a camel back mule, it's removeable by using a pair of fastex buckles and undoing the bottom two straps. I made it removeable so I can wear it with my Maxpedition ( http://www.maxpedition.com ) Condor Backpack.

I've also got lots of misc gear attached to the modular webbing on the vest and pack including a GI 1 qt canteen with cup and stove, Maxpedition M-1 waistpack, custom magazine dump pouch, SAW ammo pouch used for my first aid supplies, custom pouch for my MS-2000 strobe light, Amadini drop holster for my HK USP40, and a custom stuff sack for my ranger roll/ground tarp/hammoc.

I use an LBE to carry my Drywall Tool Belt.
I use an Omega BlackHawk Vest for when the SHTF.
My MBR is an AK-47.
The vest carries 6 mags and off the web belt I carry another 120 rounds loose in a 30cal pouch.
I also have a 3 Bandoleers with 210 rounds at the ready for my SKS, which is my Truck Rifle.

In two words, Eagle Industries. I have an army issue LBV that holds 6 mags and it's OK, but my favorite is my Eagle Tac Vest. It holds my pistol mags and up to twelve .223 or six .308 rifle mags. It is also hydration system compatible and has inside map pockets. I see why these babys are the operators best friend (next to his weapons of course.)

I have a MOLLE vest which is extremely helpful,

But as far as actual web gear goes,

I have two M-16 mag pouches (with the grenade holders cut off) on my front alice belt, the canteen, the buttpack which holds medic and survival gear, the other canteen, and then an all purpose zippered pouch jacked from my molle vest :D
