View Full Version : Mosin Nagant M44 versus the 33?
Maybe "versus" was the wrong word. I was wondering what the difference is between the 44 and the 38. As I understand it, one of them has a bayonet but the other doesn't. Also, if the recoil is really stout from the 91/30, is it more significant from the shorter barreled 44's and 38's?
If I remember correctly the 38's are cut down 91/30. The 44's were made shorter and have a bayonet that swings out. I've never shot one but I have heard that you do know when the cap pops.

None of the as issued Nagant rifles can be said to be easy on the shoulder, but the lighter ones definitely increase felt recoil.
I realize the idea of "recoil" is subjective. But could the recoil be compared to say a bolt action .30-06? For me, that's about all the recoil I care to handle.
