I bet you get some second looks, at the range. Very nice. The bipods/scope/stock look balanced. A question about the surpressor, do you shoot the subsonics with it? If so I bet its quiet. Did you notice a change in your POI with it or did you get a chance to shoot without it? So does it shoot better (tighter groups) after your mods?
So you've done all the mods ahy? Now lets see if I leave any out. So far we installed: (1) a bolt buffer, (2) volquartsen hammer kit, (3) installed or made an auto bolt release, (4) bolt mod esp. for subsonics, (5) bored a cleaning rod access hole in receiver, (6)free floated the barrel, (7) bedded the stock, (8) installed a barrel tunner, (9) pitched that dovetail scope mount, and upgraded to a weaver type base, and rings, which is way more solid, (10) Torque v-block screws, and stock take down to 20 in-lbs for consistant barrel harmonics, after each reassembly. (I used feel, now I have a torque wrench so I won't have to guess). (11) for the match barrel boys/girls, bedded the barrel a couple of inches to better support the receiver end of the barrel, (12) installed a volquartsen extractor.
That pretty well covers things up to now. maybe its time to dig a little deeper. :D

Is this the Ramline Dragunov stock? Have you had a chance to compare it with other stocks? Just wondering how stable the butt part of it would be. But congratulations! It looks to be a great shooter, and it's a looker too!

At the moment there is very little sound difference between firing a subsonic round and just cocking the action.... havent tried firing it without the suppressor since the mods, what I do remember was the scattergun effect it was producing regardless of the rounds used!! CCI Minimags make an unusal sound in flight tho...
the yellow pages here are about 2 inches thick and at around 30 meters the winchester subs were pushing thru 2 books and bouncing off the concrete wall behind, think thats enough to upset a rabbit!
Since the mods the groups are way better but a large amount of glass went into the stock (ATI Drugonov). Dunno how strong the butt is.... but it doesnt twist or bend.
Learnt my lesson about the v-block after I split one... bit too tight
Havent got a VQ extractor (essential?) and aint gonna drill a hole in the reciever. Still gotta take the bolt out, so I may as well take the barrel off too.... whats a Barrel tuner??

doonnzl, the VQ edge extractor is not needed if you use the std. ruger barrel/chamber. It is helpful if you ever go to a match barrel, as they have a tighter chamber, and the VQ extractor helps remove the cases.
I didn't do the drill a hole in my reciever either, as I can clean the bore with weedwacker line, and leave the barrel/receiver in the stock.
A tuner is a shim or an adjustable screw in the forestock under the barrel, It changes the barrel harmonics (barrel whip). I made a temporary one out of card stock, and jambed it under the barrel, my average groupage at 50 yds, went from .96" to .63". About a 30% improvement. Try it and see if it helps yours. If I had my ammo nailed down to one type, I would glass in a pad, but when I change types the sweet spot changes, Thats why I'm trying to find an adjustable type such as the "bug tuner". It really can make a difference.
Think ive read about this before but how does it work, does it put pressure on a particular point on a barrel? ie acting like a shock absorber or send the vibration into the stock?
Is this what the barrel/stock clamp was for on the original stock?

Hey doonnzl. Here is a better discription of barrel harmonics (vibration) than I could give. Check out: http://www.rifle-accuracy.com/harmonics.htm and http://projects.chatrifleclub.org/vibradampers.html . All I can add is the benchrest guys do it, I've done it, and it works for me. ;)
You would think the barrel band would do the same thing, but it dosen't work on my 10/22. Mine shot a little better with it removed. All I can say is try it you may like it. It dosent cost ya anything to try it. A little card stock is free around the house, if it dosen't work for ya take back out the card stock. But I bet ya it will improve your groups. Course if plinking, and close up hunting is what grabs ya it may not be worth it.
