the mini was bought from a buddy of mine who bought it new slid it under his bed and forgot it for 20 years that is the original finish no polish at all and i also have the orginal wood fore arm. i'm sending it to drc to get a barrell chop and a flashhider on it ..the scope is a el cleapo bec scope but it works perfect. i bought it at cdnn for 50 .00 it does the job quite well...the gun is in pristine condition and shoots almost as good as my ar-15's :ar15: :D

Hey one good cop. I don't blame ya for not wanting to cut the barrel. She's too purty, and shoots good too.

i saw that you have the same scope as i. is it still on your mini? i was wondering if you have trouble keeping the thing screwed down? i have to really crank on it to keep it from loosening after 15 shots.
i've tried locking washers and guntight and had some improvement but it still isn't satisfactory.
thanks

Roughen the contact surfaces a little with fine sandpaper?

roughening the surfaces is probably a good idea. i'll try it.
voruzon,
i assume you don't have a problem with that big thumb screw either?
i've been trying to figure out some kind of temporary locking system.
one good cop,
how much barrel did drc remove? did it help accuracy much?

Hey mtnwatcher. Someone posted a fix for that problem. I didn't have a lot of time to search, but you my want to try key words, B-square mount, or Knob, to see what comes up.

I did not have a chance to shoot it yet - will try this Friday. It did seem a bit insecure to me, so I have thought of a few ways to deal with it if it becomes a problem.
Filling the gap (1/16" or so) between the attachment point and a mount with some kind of a gasket - which may add another surface besides the two engaged, increase friction and dampen vibration which facilitates sliding.
Filling the oblong hole in the scope part mount with epoxy or something so there is no way to slide once the screw is installed.
Drilling a small hole through both parts and installing a pin - possibly covered/held in place by a knob or a washer under the knob.

OGC,
My suggestion, don't chop down the barrel on any mini14. It's my judgement that the mini-14 barrel can be tuned for better performance.
