Red dot scopes

I've been looking for a well-made low-cost red dot scope. The only ones I found that were ~$100 came from BSA optics and Tasco. Due to Tasco folding in the market im not sure if I should still purchase a Tasco. Have any of you had any experience w/ BSA scopes? Please help me pick the right brand. thanks

I can only comment on the BSA 42mm red dot. I picked one up used for $35 at my local dealer. I think new they may go around $60. Using a b-square mount I put it on my AR and I like it quite well. Sighted it in sort of off-hand then took it back off. Next time went shooting I just put it back on and from a resting position I put 3 shots on the edge of the Xring at 25m. Not bad, considering the scope and the mount would certainly not be considered top-end items. Relative to what I paid, I'd say it was a pretty good deal.

Any downside? Well, I guess the 42mm is kind of big sitting on top of the AR carry handle.

Have had both Tasco Pro-point 5 and Pro-point 3 and both functioned beautifully. The 30mm-35mm tube size seems to provide the right combo of field of view AND (not too much) bulk. The 42mm BSA just looks HUGE,and I think would be better suited for pistol. If you decide to go with BSA,(I've also had 2 of the 42mm's) AVOID the "push-button" type. It turns on with the push of a button,but not very well thought out! The button is EASILY pushed (when in case,laying down on seat,or just bumped). So go with the model that turns on with a dial,you'll save batteries AND headaches!
