View Full Version : Another 22 Ammo Mod Tool
Has anyone tried this tool? Something about striking a rimfire bullet with a hammer doesn't seem quite right.

It says it increases velocity, and pressure. Thats because your hammering the bullet further in, increasing bullet seating depth. I'm shure its safe, but my question is how am I gonna hit the bullet with a hammer, when I'm under my reloading bench with an iron skillet on my head? I think I will wait for more research before trying it.
Ironically, what makes the most sense about this whole thing is the iron skillet!!!!
Lemme know when yer gonna do this so I can get the heck away from ya!!!
It has to be dangerous, unless I'm not seeing it right. Yer bangin' on the rim area in any case.

Makes me nervous just knowing that someone thought it would be a good idea. If it works, then great but really it's just a .22. I run through too many to pound on all of them.

I couldnt see where it set the bullet deeper in the case. It probably doesnt. We're talking dead soft lead here. Them 22's have a pretty good 'skirt' of lead around them, pull a few and see for yourself. I do a little swaging myself and soft lead flows really easily. You probably just have to barely tap it.
Even assuming it is safe I wouldnt buy one unless they came out with a reloading press version so it could be adjusted and locked down for repeatable consistent results.
This dont look any scarier than Lee's pound your ammo together setup.:D
