ctrout, the pics don't work. If you post below is an attach file. You have to save them to your file, click browse, and click submit. The pic must be 75 kbytes or less, for each post. Please try again.

I guess attaching a file isn't an option while constructing the original message. Anyway, here they (hopefully) are. To see larger and better quality images, click the links in the original message. They will probably take a bit of time to load.
Another...
I guess I misunderstood. I was under the impression that a thumbnail of the image would show up in the post that you could click on for the larger image. Oh well.

ctrout,
Who did the work for you? I am considering getting a MINI-14 cut down to minimum legal length and having the factory sight re-installed. This looks like what you did.
I am proud to say that I did the work myself. The details of how I did it can be found in my post "Chop job" under the accurizing forum.

ctrout,
Thanks for the response. Two of the local gunsmiths I contacted are gun-shy (no pun intended) about cutting down a MINI-14 barrel. No problem in the cutting, crowning and re-installation of the front sight. They just have no experience in the area of drilling the gas block if there is a cycling problem. For this reason, they won't do the job. I have contacted Williams Gunsight Co. and they claim they have much experience in doing this work, including the gas block if necessary. If I decide to cut down, will most likely go with them.
What kind of mags are those? I heard a few years back there was a company who took AK mags and converted them, is that one of them?

Yeah, I haven't seen those type of mags before, how are they for reliability? Who sells them?

I have 3 of those mags for my Mini-30. They were el-cheapo. They hold 30 7.62x39mm rounds, but realistically only put 27 in them. There is no brand name at all on mine. I picked them up at a seedy gun shop - $15 each I think. Not the most reliable, but a lot better than some of the Mini-14 crappy aftermarket mags you find.
