View Full Version : My Mini

I thought I'd finally post pictures since I'm thinking about selling it. I got the bug for an M1A, and the wife cut my gun allowance. She has this notion that food and a house are more important than things that go bang. Silly woman.
It has the barrel shroud built by Bybon. He hasn't been on the board in a long time, but he does premium work.
I had a Leupold scope on it and could do 5 shot 1" groups. Had to change scopes since I've been getting set up for upcoming hog hunts with a different rifle.
It's had a trigger job done with a 3# pull, as well as the neoprene bumper to reduce recoil.
A fine gun, and hopefully I can find a way to keep it.
More pictures can be seen here. (http://users3.ev1.net/~tpritc01/index.htm)
Nice!
How much you want for that? I'm shopping for a Mini now! Perhaps you can LEASE it to me hehehe, until the wife comes to her senses ;)

Nice mini hekimian. I read a most favoriable article on bybon's barrel shroud. If it were me I'd keep the mini, and find another way to get the M1A, but I understand a man's gotta do------

Was the article somewhere besides on here? I'm trying to come up with some extra money by doing a little bit of specialty welding on the side.
Not much luck so far, but still trying to keep this one at home.

Removed the barrel shroud, chopped barrel, welded original front sight to gas block, bead blasted it, took some pictures. Here are some of the results...

Hey hekimian. That is an excellent job. It looks like a one piece sight/block.
BTW I can't see the other side of the gas block, did you try to gap the gas block? If you can gap it evenly, and torque it evenly to 24-36 in-lbs it may improve accuracy a little.

These were taken before I finished assembling it. I had taken it off to blast it and then just sort of slapped it together for the pictures. It is now happily evened out. I'm thinking of putting a little bit of white sight paint on the top of the ramp. Not sure how it'll look, but it should help in target aquisition.
Also thinking of blasting all external metal, except the rear sight. Might make it pick up smudges a little quicker, but I think it would look pretty nifty.

For some odd reason, I seem to remember a company that sells exactly that - the top half of the gas block with the sight built-in. Or am I just going crazy?
