I think I would like to get an AK.
The ones around these days seem to be the Romanian SAR and WASR. I have heard of people not liking the WASR, why is this? What is the difference, they seem to be going for about the same price and look just the same, both take hi-caps. A friend has a WASR and it shoots well. I have no complaints and neither does he. Just looking for a heads up.
You guys have helped in the past and even got my mini to shoot well for under $100. I figure this will be an easy one.
Thanks:)

I have a SAR-1 and have fired a case plus through it with out a hitch, all I can say is the gun works and is fun to shoot you can find some good deals on them at www.auctionarms.com (http://www.auctionarms.com) :ar15:

The difference between the SAR and the WASR is that the WASR is only supost to accept 5 or 10 round single stack magazines. Other than that, they are the exact same gun. I have one of each, they both function flawlessly, and are very acurate. I resently punched the same hole at 50 yards with wolf ammo in the WASR, with open sites. The single stack mags are harder to load ammo in, and put in, and take out of the gun. I can tell the gun was not made for this mag. It looks like the mag well could be cut out to accept high capacity mags very easily, accept the front trunion block looks a little different. I am told this can be done legally as long as you replace 4 parts on the gun with US made parts. Adding the price of the gun, the US parts, and the time to convert the gun, you would be better off buying the SAR.
