Has anyone ever had a round "cook-off"? What exactally does it take? If TSHTF and you were blasting bad guys or Ruskies, and there was a pause for a while and all of a sudden your rifle went off, not real good. Any vets have any experience with this? Anyone ever try to do this on purpose to see what it takes?

Dave, I'd be willing to bet that if a round cooks off in the chamber, the rest ALL cook off in succession soon after.

Years ago I had a M-60 cookoff a round after
shooting several hundred rounds in training. The only bad part for me was that it started as a misfire that stuck in the chamber. I didnt realize it, and I chamered another in behind it.while I was trying to clear the mess the first round had enough time to go off and I ended up with a small ball of fire in my face. But mind you I had not changed the barrel like I should have and it was very hot.
