View Full Version : Accurizing my mini 14

I am seriously considering accurizing my mini 14 through either Clark Custom Gunsmithing or Accuracy Rifle Systems. I am looking for feedback from anyone who has had any experience with either of these companys. ARS seems to promise more (better barrel, trigger and accuracy), but I did read one bad thread about them not standing behind there work, etc. Also looking for opinions on spending $700-$1000 to go from 2.5 MOA to hopefully 1 MOA if not sub MOA. I love the mini for handling and running game. I want to have a nice, light, accurate rifle I'll have complete confidence in out to 300 yards when calling coyotes, with the ability to take more than one when the opportunity arises. Thanks for your info.

I have had 2 mini's done by ARS, one 24" mini-14, 223 and 1 20" mini-30 in 6mmPPC. they shoot great but they are not as light as they were. If your mini will shoot consistant 2.5" groups, why fix what ain't broke. thats still 7.5" groups at 300 and that is stretching the range for coyotes. Try working on the trigger and bedding that should get it down to around 2.0" or a little less. The conversions really make them shoot but you give up a lot of what you like about the rifle. They're heavy, you have to much invested in them to make them a knock around truck rifle. Not trying to talk you out of it but just letting you know the facts.

I agree with Ridge Runner partly here. If it really does do 2.5 @ 100yrds, probably leave it. However it is rewarding to try new things and sub moa is a nice project. If you do why not put a 18" or 20" barrel on ( I know, flash & velocity, accuracy ) to save weight. Of course the plus side of weight is less recoil. And who knows, maybe Mills has the money to not worry about banging it up in the field. He should team up with David M. Now there is a guy who puts his money where his mouth is. Also, as I posted elsewhere here, I have a stainless mini 30 at ARS waiting its return. Getting a 20" barrel and trigger job. When it gets back adding a new stock and bedding. WOW, now that I wrote it all down and looked at it , can't wait. Heck, just go for it Mills!
