View Full Version : Barrel sleeve
Earlier this year, it was reported that someone was testing a barrel sleeve for the Mini-14 that dramatically improved accuracy. (I think this was from the SHOT show in Atlanta.) It was supposed to be nearing production. I haven't heard anything since then. Does anyone know about this?
You are talking about the newly released Mini-14 Gun Barrel Stabilizer (G.B.S.) by Clark Custom Guns.
It weighs 20 ounces and costs $245.
It is designed for the Mini-14 Ranch Rifle, and they are working on an option that will allow it to work on other Mini-14's.
The manufacturer claims that it will produce 5 shot, 100 yard groups at or below one inch with the best ammunition.
See http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/stabilizer.htm ('http://"http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/stabilizer.htm"') for more information.
Gee, for the price they're asking, you can buy a heavy barrel from Brownells. It's certainly not a cost effective accessory.
For that price and the cost of the Mini, you can buy a Bushmaster and shoot under 1", with no additions.

That reminds me of something my Wife once said. "For all the money you have put into that 69 Camaro you could have bought a new car that is just as fast". I just told her "yeah, but what would be the fun in that".
