Brad,
Day or night?
Right now I run a green laser illuminator with a beam culminator mounted on a 3-12-50 mill dot reticle, center lit red dot. The scope is a high quality rig that is no longer made. The laser is adjustable for elevation and windage and the scope is also. The scope is set to shoot center of the laser spot at 100, impact is center crosshairs.
My setup is intended for a tree stand / shooting house as a starter set. I have two ponds on my farm and so far it is hogs 0, 6.5 Grendel 1. Course I am running a day/night rig with a can and sub-sonic loads.
In the daylight, I shoot some distance with regular loads at 5-6x but at night try to keep shots within 100 yards (most at 50) with the sub loads using a 3x setting and the lit dot.
I will probably switch to a night vision scope that is auto gated in the not to distant future.
