Hog scope for AR

I'm new here and there might be a topic for this but I have a Bushmaster
M4A3 and I need some input on optics for hog hunting to put on it.

Thanks, Brad

Brad,
Day or night?

Right now I run a green laser illuminator with a beam culminator mounted on a 3-12-50 mill dot reticle, center lit red dot. The scope is a high quality rig that is no longer made. The laser is adjustable for elevation and windage and the scope is also. The scope is set to shoot center of the laser spot at 100, impact is center crosshairs.

My setup is intended for a tree stand / shooting house as a starter set. I have two ponds on my farm and so far it is hogs 0, 6.5 Grendel 1. Course I am running a day/night rig with a can and sub-sonic loads.

In the daylight, I shoot some distance with regular loads at 5-6x but at night try to keep shots within 100 yards (most at 50) with the sub loads using a 3x setting and the lit dot.

I will probably switch to a night vision scope that is auto gated in the not to distant future.

I run a Hawke optics Endurance 30 for coyote hunting. It has a 1/4" moa lighted dot reticle. I think they would be great for hogs it has the german L-4 with the dot in the middle. Makes for quick aquisition. The dot still shows very well with my XLR 250 Kill light with a red LED. I can pick up eyes out to 400 yds and identify coyotes out to 300yrds with the combination.

This will be for day time hunting, and will more than likley be shooting the 69 grain bullet. I will be walking around and not hunting from a stand. Will the M-223 scope still be good for bullets over 55gr since it says for 55gr.

Should be. Nikon has a ballistics calculator on their website where you can punch in the type of ammo used and it will sync it up with your scope. My brother-in-law did that with his bolt action .308 for different weight rounds.
