Is it just my range every time i go to the range anymore their a lot of guys with new ARs and they have no idea what they are doing. A lot of the new ARs won't shoot or have sticky chambers. The first thing i ask them is did you clean your rifle Answer It is a new rifle. I have stared bringing a GI cleaning kit and i been printing M16 comic books and selling them for 3.00 to cover my ink. I strip and clean and lube the the bolt for them showing them how to do it. I have them clean the barrels. Now i have to find a way for them to hit the target. I like helping these new guys out it is a good way to bring new people to our hobby. I have been talking to the people at the range about posting a sign if you have a new rifle/handgun or shooting used rifle/handgun that is new to you you must clean and safety check Rifle/handgun before you shoot it. Sooner or later something bad is going to one of these guns.

Good idea-there are alot of novice/beginners out there.I personnally don't have much patience-if they don't want to listen!

When their new 800+ dollar gun won't shoot they usually want to listen. Monday i picked a new 10-22 from big five when i took it a part to clean and lube it i found a zip tie in the barrel! What if one of these guys had bought that gun?

I have to agree with all the above replies, sometimes it is amazing what goes on, seems like proper training should be put into effect!!

Nope, can't be your imagination. I'm a long time rifle shooter and lover of Mini 14's. My BIL got me into AR's lately and that's all the guys around here want to buy nowadays. Never thought I'd have to learn the EBR [evil black rifle] but I've gotten pretty fair at working on them with help from Power Custom and another gunsmith friend.

I'm a new Stag Arms dealer and have been waiting five weeks now for my first complete AR. I've also bought a PSA bare lower that just came in and am waiting on the upper to ship ---- the lower from PSA only took a week to get but the upper is still a couple of weeks out. Both Stag and PSA tell me they've got more orders than they can keep up with right now even if they were to double production.

As far as morons on the firing line go we have our own range and don't tolerate unsafe practices at all but on public ranges and even at clubs around the area I still see them and they scare hell out of me so I don't hang around long if a RSO doesn't put a stop to it asap.

Gonna try to post a pic of my new PSA lower, it's very nicely made. AR's are VERY hot right now.

Good looking lower. I have never built a AR upper but i did build a lower for a friend. It was fun to do and a lot less work than building AKs.

True but the skill required is invaluable....better order extra detents and springs.

Good for you 51colt for helping out new shooters. A lot of people would just look the other way and let nature take it's course, but that kind of attitude does nothing to help us all in the long run.

A local gun store tripled the price on their AKs overnight.

Couple of days before the november election, WASR-10s were $400.

The following week after the election, that same WASR-10 was $1,200.

When I asked the lady why the price went up, she said the rifles were no longer being imported.

Well, here we are 4 years later and WASR-10s are still on the market.

I hear you.

Lots of gun stores told lots of lies trying to justify their price increases. There are a couple around here that I was on a first name basis with. I had spent thousands of dollars in those shops before the price gouge.

I still wont do business with those shops, I don't like to be lied to. Sometimes I go a little out of my way to stop by one of those shops in particular and rub my new purchases under their nose.

There are a couple of other shops that just said their prices were up because of the election and people were willing to pay and that there was a shortage because demand was so high. I am still a customer at those shops.

It's hard to imagine someone would pull a new gun out of the box and shot it. I've always learned how to to field strip and reasemble a gun before I shoot it. Once I can do it without instuctions, it's time to head to the woods, er, range.

Luckily 90% of guys I have seen at the range I go to seem to be professional and intelligent. Only ever saw one set of "tacticool mall ninjas". They were all cammo'd out and dumping mags and saying "OMG BRO" a lot. However they had really expensive gear and seemed to know how to shoot. So I guese I've never seen any total fools at the range. However at the store on sight some guy was letting his kid walk around with one of those 22 chipmunk rifles. The kid was pointing it everywhere and dry firing it like crazy. I left immidiatly. Too many 22 loads around and too little parrenting going on. It scarred the $hit out of me. I do not need to get shot by some 5 year old because dady is an idiot.
