Bushmaster Returns as Windam Weaponry!

Cerberus ran Bushmaster into the ground, and then moved the factory, laying off 73 workers with decades of experience. The founder of Bushmaster has put half of them back to work with the new Windam Weaponry, and seems committed to bringing back the quality the Former Bushmaster Company was once known for. Take a look. I'm happy these folks will be put back to work, doing the quality job that Cerberus wouldn't let them do.

Always good to see another manufacturer out there, choices are good. That said the first time I saw a Windam Weaponry AR15 was at Wal-Mart. I have noticed them in a local gunshop or two now as well.

I am glad to see that they are reopening the old Windham Plant. I am also glad that my Bushmaster is one of the ones built before Freedom Group took over.

I seen them too at my local wally world also, $800. I also seen them at several Security/ Law Enforcement dealers for around the same price. Look really good flat top but they come with no sights.

For $800 you might as well buy a Palmetto State Armory.

Bushmaster quality is hit and miss at best.

I just handled a couple of Windam Weaponry's AR's at the new Cal Ranch Supply in Carson City. They look to be pretty nice. I need to get over to the range and see if anybody has one that I can take for a spin.

Silver Springs and sometimes Carson City or the big regional range out by Pyramid Lake. Another shooting spot is east side of 80 at Derby Dam exit 36.

You live out this way 51?

I sure hope Bushy gets it together again as they were the Company that kept trying until they got it right. When Colt changed their receivers it was Bushy that built a work around. We can all thank Bushmaster for the AR market that we enjoy today as they kept the prices down. AR rifles are high tech in that they must be made to certain specifications to run as intended. It seems that an AR maker must get to the profit point where they can limit the loose upper and lower parts they sell as my neighbor Joe never built a good Bushmaster rifle but Bushmaster did. In property it is location in AR's it is reputation. MY RRA is quality perfection and I paid top dollar to get it. I have had Bushmasters that shot just as good.

My Bushmaster Vmatch was acquired in 1997. It is top notch. I am thinking about getting another upper for this rifle and was wondering that if I went with a Bushmaster upper if I would notice a difference in quality ? i.e. was the quality of my Bushmaster in 1997 good ? and BM quality has since gone down ?

Or was BM quality never that good, especially compared to what we have today ?

I just know that in 1997, BM was "the gun to have"

I recently bought a Windham SRC m4. I have about 300 rounds through it and love it.
Very well made and only complaint is I think the hand guard is a little on the big. I have a Magpul Carbine hand guard coming. I have a Aimpoint Comp M2 and Magpul sights on it and they co-witness very well and it shoots nice. My wife wants me to trade her for her Mini-14. No way!

I know someone on the inside of the current Bushmaster Plant in Ilion, NY. He indicated that when they transferred the operation to the Remington Plant, some of the Bushmaster documentation appeared to be difficult. Of course this is subject to debate. What I do know for certainty is that he is an expert on the AR-15, someone I have known for well over 20 years. A patent holder. My 450 Upper (made in Ilion) has excellent fit an finish. I just wish they made an lower that said 450 Bushmaster. As for Windham, the more the merrier. There is always room for one more.

I've had the MPC for a few months now. This is my first AR 15 so I cannot compare it to another brand. I've put 450 rounds down range and have no complaints except it sure is loud. The range I use has sort of a covered tunnel for about 20 ft. that you shoot through. It appears to be well made and has no paint defects. I did clean and polish the trigger assembly prior to shooting it.
I'm still getting used to the whole setup. I was trained on Garands and use mainly bolt action.

I have the SRC, (flat top), and love it! Well made, and shoots great. I have
an Aim Point M2 and Magpul BUIS sights on it. I have about 600 rounds
through it now and I am real happy. AR15.COM has a Industry forum and
Windham has a guy to answer your questions about their product.

Wow...just what the industry needs...another AR-15 manufacturer! Now, IF they can become innovative again, they may just have a chance.

I have a Bushmaster 20" HBAR and shot thousands of rounds without a issue..and it`s been wonderfully accurate at 250 yds. thats the longest at my range....3 others at the range have the same experience with their Bushmasters....there are other AR`s that have had very few issues also...

On forums you will find all sorts of people that demonize every firearm made...even when they have never owned one...It makes no sence to me but that`s the way it is...

The main problem is one can read a few bad reports on a gun and believe the gun to be bad when there 10`s of thousands sold that have been flawless...So don`t believe everything you read there are some with less than the best of motives...Jim

I was looking real hard at windham rifles but ended up buying a del-ton echo316/moe. I love the del-ton but the windham was almost identical except for the magpul accesories. I think windham will do well because of the quality of people working for them, plus I have seen their product and its good.

Kevin. Bro. Windham isnt bushmaster and bushmaster isnt what it used to be. I think windham is making a quality AR that rivals what bushmaster used to build. Everything cerebus/freedom group has bought in the past few years has suffered from QC issues here and there. There are just too many complaints out there about remington/marlin/bushmaster not being as high quality as they used to be. Thank you greed.

Just a knee jerk reaction to the fellow that said dont buy any Bushmaster...seems there`s no shortage nagative comments on
Bushmaster these days..

It`s no big deal I find myself having to support a good commpany that has done a lot for the AR platform for a long time..against people just repeating what someone else has said..Just filling up a little more cyber spaceJim

Well there you are... " Bushmaster isn`t what it used to be " you made these comments about Bushmaster based on what ...can you tell me where you get you information from and what`s the documenation for it?

I`m not trying to be argumentative I`d like to know where you are coming from...Could you list the parts that the new Bushmasters have in them that are these "QC issues here and there" as you put it...and can you list any creditable sources that has found these parts to be problems...List as many as you wish I happen to know every part in the AR platform....

I`m not trying to be argumentative but I`ve had this discussion before and nobody yet has had any first hand knowledge or proof of what they were saying...

The only parts to be brought up have always been minor inexpensive parts that can be replaced for a few dollars and there wasn`t any documentation that even these parts are of a quality that was unacceptable...Just someones opinion...and nothing that interferes with the operation of the firearm...

Lastly can you name a AR that you consider to be perfect and what does that gun cost...just so I can get a idea of what you consider the perfect AR to be...Jim
