And because these AR's are becoming so popular in our local walmarts, i have discovered my local walmart started carrying accessories, as bi pods n acogs for AR 15. BLACKhawk products.
None of the firearms at Wal-Mart are of any lesser quality than those at other gun stores. The reason Wal-Mart can have lower prices are 1. They are a big company, they buy larger quantities, and they buy directly from the manufacturers. and 2. Even I hate to admit it, but even my favorite gun store is overpriced, because the owner has to make a larger profit than Wal-Mart does. Wal-Mart does not make it's money on guns, so they can afford a smaller profit margin. They make money on all of the other stuff they have that was made in China. If you want to buy an AR from Wal-Mart, buy without worry. By the way, out local Wal-Mart also has Blackhawk gear, including rail systems. I wish they would get magazines. I's be interested to see how cheap they would be.

yea thats the only bad thing about walmart, see they're soo cheap that everyone goes there to shop, so basically putting all of our ma and pa stores out of business, and do you know walmarts going to do when there the only shopping center left ? PRICE GOES WAY ^
oh n people think that foodlion will be here for a while too, well walmart is building a experimental shopping center in a small town next to this one, the size of a foodlion or kroger, to compete with these other centers in small towns where these bigger walmarts wouldn't do good... we are all doomed to corporate america! lol

I've seen the prices my local gun store paid for its firearms from the distributor. Walmart was sellling them for less! He said he just couldn't compete regardless of his profit margin without cutting out the distributor and buying huge lots from the manufacturer, which he couldn't afford. So like every other business in town he depended on not competing head to head with them, making a living from things Walmart didn't carry, used guns, custom stuff and gunsmithing.

was in our walmart this evening & seems the selection has grown. windham, colt, dpms & a couple different offerings from sig. they even had a 420 rd can of federal m-855 in the display case
Looking into an AR are we Kev? Well every Red-Blooded American boy needs one, welcome to the dark side. I'm sticking mine back and waiting for the revolution.

Yea, my bushmaster is well over a decade old, I think its time for a new rifle.
I am thinking about buying a colt 6920 and being done with it.
We have a few months before the holidays get here. So its either buy soon, or get put off until next year.
I don't remember who told me this, but I heard that after Katrina, Wal-Mart corporate drew a circle around large metropolitan areas and decided not to sell firearms within that circle. It seems to be borne out here in ATL; as far out as we are (30 miles, plus), Wal-Marts routinely sell long guns. A few miles closer into the big city, no guns to be had. Nice selection of AR's and Rugers at the Wal Mart in Cumming, GA by the way.
I live in NW Oregon. The Wal-Mart around here has Sigs, Bushmasters, and Colts. I was eye balling the 6920 the other day. Noticed there are some spots around the flash suppressor where there were definite cosmetic defects. Scratches and a dime sized area where the blueing was just non-existent. Same thing around the forward assist. Can't say if it was poor handling by the store employees or if it came that way from the factory. It did get me wondering if Wal-Mart wasn't getting the factory "seconds".
The Wal Mart in Central City, Ky has the Sig M400 for around $900, thats not where I got mine, I don't think that thay had them at the time I got mine. You can read my post, Sig M400. I've owned a few realy good guns and the M400 is one of them.
I just don't think there is a such thing as a factory second in the gun industry. Can you imagine the civil liability a firearms manufacturer would face if someone was injured by a factory second. They would be sued from all angles. I think the legal teams for Wal-Mart, and all the major firearms manufacturers are smarter than that. Even if a gun company sold guns with cosmetic problems, I don't think they would try to sneak it in with the rest of their guns. I think they would label it as a cosmetic blemished gun. That way it would not be covered by a factory warranty. Otherwise, people would be sending blemished guns back for repair.
Ankeny Iowa Walmart has had several to include a DPMS Sportical, Bushmasters, and Sig 400's. All have sold within a few days except one Bushmaster that took us 2 weeks to get out the door. kwg
I'll have to go there , as it's not all that far !
We have had a rush in the last few weeks and they have not come back very fast. It seems demand is up everywhere, not just Walmart. We still have some good buys. Stop in some time. kwg
