Looking at a used STI 1911 in 9mm. Anyone have any experience with the STI brand? Thing looks and feels like a nice weapon, love the trigger squeeze. It's right there with my Kimber. Like to get a little feedback prior to spending the money.

STI makes very nice pistols, much higher end than a Kimber (and I love Kimbers). They were largely competition grade pistols until the owner retired and sold the company to it's employees. They have tried (successfully) to get in to the consumer/LEO market with pistols geared more to those markets.

The Trojan is totally built in their Texas factory, while the slightly more budget model Spartan is made in the Philippines, and then sent to Texas for final QA and tuning.

STI for years was the "IT" company when it came to IPSC race guns.

Thanks for the info. While this was all going on I found a 9mm Trojan. Got it to the range for the first time yesterday. I love that weapon, it is by far one of the most accurate 1911s I've ever owned. Not that I've owned a lot of them. I was really impressed with the groups it was producing. Especially with me behind the trigger.

Great pistol, my search is over.

I have heard STI is "tops" as well.
