Longslide 1911

I dont have any 1911's but its probably the next handgun I buy. I was looking for a longslide, like a 6" barrel, and I came across this:

Para USA, High-Quality Handguns: Products

Para ordnance longslide and hi-cap, how can you beat that. What do you guys think of this one

While I love 1911s, I've never been a real fan of the double stack models. I've owned a couple but they just don't feel "right" to me. When I decided I wanted a long slide, I went with a Springer Loaded Target model. This is a real bowling pin killer...

Thanks for the reply. I have put this purchase on the back burner for awhile but I still want a longslide 1911. I just started shooting 10mm (glock 20) and I came across Nighthawk Customs. They make a longslide 10mm 1911. Its about 3K but this might have to be my one outrageous gun purchase. It is not that outrageous considering I have at least 3K$ into my M1A setup (Leupold scope among many other mods)

Steve'

Nighthawk is one of the best 1911 manufacturers right now.
The longslide is an awesome shooter, well worth the cost!

Most of the "custom" 1911's nowadays are 6" barrels and slides.

But a couple of decades back, AMT made a bunch of 7" models, the Hardballer longslide in .45 and the Javelina in 10mm.

While the quality was variable, they can be made to be fun and reliable guns for well under half the Nighthawk products cost.

Unfortunately, Para doesn't offer a 10mm longslide.
You didn't specify caliber, but if you want a new production 10mm, it looks like the choices are either Nighthawk or Fusion. Based on my searches, the Fusion guns seem to have as good a reputation as Nighthawk, and are about 1/2 the cost of Nighthawk's offerings (c. $1500 vs. $3100). You can get one in kit form for well under a kilobuck.
Fusion Firearms

Any input from those who own/have shot either?

Kilobuck? hahah I would guess you are an electrician. Yeah Para just makes theirs in .45. I put this purchase on the backburner for now I have an AR build that has taken precedence and I have this need for a Marlin guide gun that just won't go away. Thanks for the info guys ill check back at this thread when I am ready to make this purchase. I gotta check out those fusions.

Watch your azz when dealing with Fusion! Many issues with poor fitting,
lousy machining and pistols not built per the customer's build/order sheet.

Do some research before handing over a check to Fusion!

P.S.
Comparing Fusion to Nighthawk is like comparing a Buick to Mercedes!
Not even in the same league!

I've got a few 1911 pistols in the safe, but I've said for years whenever I find a longslide, it will go home with me.
